How do I practice my falco skills with myself?

One of the best possible ways to approach this is to perform the play on your own glitch in Melee mode.

Practice different permutations of lasers (SHL, reverse SHL, full jump fastfall, SHDL off platforms, et cetera), getting your lasers at the height you want them in different situations.

Assuming you have two controllers, you can play against an "AFK" Bowser with 9-1 handicap against you and .5 damage ratio (basically he won't budge when you hit him). This is a good way to learn how to compensate for hitlag. Practice shield pressure and waveshining like this, but be sure to practice these things without the Bowser as well. It's important to be flexible. You should still be nailing your L-cancels in situations where you don't expect to hit them and in situations where you expect to hit them but don't.

I usually practice in my room with the lights out every night from 9 'til 10 after I do my homework and eat my vegetables. My parents don't know.

I like the idea of handicap boozer for hit stun practice, do you guys have a suggestion for how to do shield stun practice?

Someone told me to do training with star as item, but I can't use c-stick there and it throws me off =/

I just set it to medium items, stars only, vs mode against a 2nd controller. Also I have friends just shield and try to grab/jump out/whatever in the middle of my pillar, but friends aren't always available so yeah.

Shieldstun is only incurred by the person shielding.

Hitlag (which is the only thing that could change the timing of your pillars) is the same no matter what you're hitting.

Ah my bad, I meant practice timing a shine when the aerial is successful and when it hits a shield.

Seems people always grab me out of the pillar because my shine comes out too late even with the shffl, figured it was because I was executing the attack too early and that I should aim to do it when I am closer to the ground/landing.

ZUO, what he is saying that wether you hit a shield or a bowser, the stun you experience is the same.

Starmen do it too, but its far more stress.
