Missed my chance to introduce, but at this point I'm done with this game. The competitive landscape looks like a mountain of sewage, considering the kinds of stupidity that prevails within 'For Glory' (which I type with the utmost disdain). Much as they've nerfed thinking and buffed cheese, I keep tricking myself into seeing improvement just to lose to a spammer because no moves exist to hit rolling, or because of the rock-paper-scissors nature of a blind matchmaking, or because of retreating until sudden death, or any number of things. If it's in the game, it's fair game-- I get that, and I'm not going to waste and further breath complaining. But a game where that kind of crap goes miles further than a thousand hours of practice isn't one I can motivate myself to even play anymore.

So before I go cry myself to sleep for a few weeks of grieving, was just realizing that I haven't the slightest clue how to actually delete my account here. But no matter how crushing, I can't bring myself to keep playing this game. Losing it may be devastatingly depressing, but that beats such fruitless effort that has me biting my hands to the point of bleeding in frustration. I have never tried so hard at something for so many hours so pointlessly.

Keep practicing! Don't quit yet : - )
If you want we can play sometime later on this week (?) and I can try to demonstrate a few ways to punish roll-heavy players.

This is why playing with friends is the best. You can play no items on any stage and enjoy the company/tactics of a friend.

I, too, am bored with For Glory for the most part. I never get to experience all of a stage has to offer and there's tons of scrubs online.

Smash Bros Wii U will change that for me, though.

It's not just roll punishing. A well placed tilt can manage enough of that. It's not the theory that's the problem, it's that it simply doesn't translate. Is a Samus who only knows how to roll and charge shot harmless if permanently settled at the opposite end of the stage? Sure-- but that doesn't mean I won't be hit the second I try and do something useful. Is A ganondorf who only uses side B dementedly simple beyond belief? Certainly, but to hell if I can punish 'simple' without resorting to stupid as well. When my best solution to 'spammy idiot' is 'pick a character who can punish safely', I lose heart in the whole of the game. Beating that crap a majority of the time just isn't enough-- losing any single time just has the hours of practice feeling meaningless.

Playing with friends would necessitate having such, regardless. No amount of adding random friend codes amounts to any realistic increase in play, given Nintendo's hatred of the internet making it impossible to communicate so much as even a game invite. The damn dreamcast could handle that much. That said, there's still practically no benefit to be had from even those limited games if there's no means of communication regardless.

Either way, I've unraveled the popularity of Little Mac: he's basically a specialist in dealing with stupidity and punishing predictability. Robin lacks the speed to capitalize, and I can't even get a chance to practice Lucina at all without some idiot sudden-death stalling or some ****. But playing Mac to beat the ****heads gets me a bad MU versus people who actually play even remotely conventionally, but it also gets them leaving after a single game so I never get a chance, so my options are 'cart eject on every dumb**** until matchmaking gets me something playable, thrash them all with Rock-paper-scissors picks of Mac to maul melee spam or Toon Link to maul ranged spam, or abstain. The first means enduring a few thousand matches of **** before any single practice game happens by, while the second means never getting real practice in due to an obsessive focus on just obliterating idiots... and neither are anything but crushing. At least in Starcraft the cheese can be identified and played around to some extent beforehand, if you scout, but... I digress.

Still not certain of the hows to deletion. Would at least like to leave with some respect for the forums themselves, even if the game it's based in is proving to be pointlessly painful. I learned Japanese, to play piano, and how to use a four-fingered hand after a mutilatory accident in a combined total of far less time than I've put into practicing smash... and the inability to even deal with cheese is just a profoundly disturbing lack of results. Melee experience, practice, theorycrafting, muscle memory-- none have proved relevant in making my efforts... well, relevant. I'm not so daft as to expect any real results without hours of play, but when I have dedicated that time and energy just to lose to someone who's handed the DS off to their cat? Yeah, I think I'm done with the banging-my-head-into-a-wall. Melee may have felt hopelessly beyond my level the second I broached wavedashing and saw a glimpse of the true skill ceilings, but at least I got to the point of beating spammers... Hell, even Brawl had me capable of that much, unplayable as I found the input lag and unlikely as I found it to get a Project M game...

But I'm getting off topic with an ultimately pointless rant. My original question still stands-- and I'd rather just ask than post an entire threat of swearing and voodoo curses or the like. May have lost my respect for the game, but the people around here have certainly been nothing but nice in general.

I have some advice for you;

git. gud.
Off-topic, unhelpful, and most of all doesn't answer my damn question. Hearing someone who likely doesn't know that the A button can do more than jab complaining when I've made quite clear my intention of quitting is the definition of salt in the wound. Tell me how to delete this damn thing and I'm gone, but don't you dare act like you've any grounds for trying that self-righteous crap when your lot are certain to be part of the problem. If you're going to make baseless assumptions thinking that my being fed up with this game's abysmal majority, then to hell with assuming you're anything less than one of those clueless little flowchats Links.

If you have something purposeful to say then by all means, but beyond that, either answer the question or get the hell out. I've done my very best to be as helpful as I can in my short time here, but don't think I won't still report some snide little idiot thinking hostile little cheap shots will fly. If you're that keen on being toxic you can get the hell out too.

Regardless, to reiterate, I do not know how to delete. If that's really not possible, then I can certainly just leave it, I just wanted to check if there was a more proper way to do so such that people would not message or reply to me expecting responses in the future-- and inactivity is hardly a proper means of doing so.

Excuse you saying my post is off-topic when this thread from the start is against the rules, there are to be no "I'm leaving" threads. Why do you need to make this thread? Just leave, instead you draw attention to yourself so you can have a bit of a cry and a moan.

Your assumption I'm the type of player you hate shows fully that you're quick to make everyone against you a **** player, chatting crap about "your lot". Leave the forums, quit the game, do what you're doing, stop crying out for attention.

Not to mention you getting good is very much on topic.

We don't actually delete accounts exactly; but you are free to request a permanent ban if you'd like. Which can be lifted if at any time you do decide to come back.

I'd like to direct you to this thread, it's a good read and will help you learn how to punish an opponent that loves to roll.

As for little mac, it's a matter of being able to shield grab his approach and throw him offstage, and follow him offstage with a move to gimp him. There's a stock right there. Of course most good little macs have a way around this, but you're only talking about for glory.

There should not be this amount of negativity because of a game. If you don't want to play anymore, just don't. Why not find a sparring partner who you get along with and take things from there? Unnecessary thread if I'm to be completely honest, you could have just pm'd a mod for a faster response with less aggro from other people.

Maybe just take a break for a while; quitting isn't a permanent thing anyways. If you're leaving, goodbye and good luck with life.

Reported for harassment, as such is the only intention one could ever interpret from this crap. Insulting me gets insults in turn, but inciting hostility just to complain that someone retaliates shows you to be of quite the disgusting personality. Only gave those assumptions on you as a response to your doing exactly that with me. You get from people what you give, which in your case has been sweet FA.

Neither rolling nor macs are a problem, just a nuisance. Just seems pointlessly rock-paper-scissors. If I use Mac to steamroll a few spammers, I go against a legitly good Dedede or Shiek, whereas if I anticipate a more challenging foe, I just end up in a delay-to-sudden death or some such... honestly, irrelevant nonsense. I certainly appreciate the helpful intentions, nonetheless, but For Glory is insufferable in more ways than one, and I just can't find anything practical about 'with friends' without some form of instant contact... which'd need to be some 3rd party and that's just a mess.

I completely agree with you in hindsight. Don't use many forums and quite new to this one, so I hadn't a clue that one could more directly message mods. I'd be happy to have just sparred with others via 'with friends', but I've gotten a ratio of a single match per ten friend codes out of that, so I think that's honestly just another potential frustration more than anything.

Thank you. I just wanted to be sure I at least wasn't missing some big red delete button. I'll be on my way, then-- if I don't have any deleting that needs doing, then please close this thread. You're welcome to any ban, as such would be irrelevant to me, but my initial intent was minimizing mod-work.

Later then. Actually, in this case, I'd guess not.
