How closely does Sakurai look at leaks/online rumors?

Looking at some of the Dojo updates, it appears Sakurai has his eye on rumors and/or leaks that we like to buy into...

Before any of these big so-called "leakers", we have some updates of where it seems Sakurai posted to deconfirm characters... I am talking about:

Deoxys
Meowth
Munchlax
Lyn
Waluigi
Stafy

All of these were characters people talked about being playable. And with the last two, Sakurai even mentioned the fact that they weren't playble... the others could be coincidences...

The major part of this though, is today's update. The night we get confirmation of Sheik and every character's special moves via Famitsu, the Dojo is updated with Sheik and make-shift lists of all characters' special moves... This leads me to believe that Sakurai and his crew are watching the smash community VERY closely...

So maybe we will be getting more character confirmations/deconfirmations soon...

This is of course just silly speculation... but a fun idea to toss around...

I'm sure they occasionally check out different communities all over the internet and see things that even interest them...let's see how they continue to toy with us :-P

Haha I've been thinking the same thing, I mean he can't be completely ignorant to the internet. He has a blog, has had polls, and all sorts. I wouldn't be surprised if he at least browsed through forums.

Maybe he's laughing at all the people who want Ridley in! I still don't think Ridley will be playable, no matter what people say. If he is.. I'll be surprised, but hey, he is a classic :).

I agree, I doubt he will/would be playable. I think he would be much better off as a boss. Sakurai, if you are reading this, maybe you should give us a demo to download off of the Wii shop, it would cancel&uninstall itself when it is March 9. If not, just do it for the poor people over in Europe. That would make them very happy. ;)

Hmmm, logical thinking OP. You could be right. Although, people have been begging for Stafy and Walugi all along. It may be that he hasn't checked a rumor since the game was originally in the works.

Sakurai is Japanese. Just in case you guys didn't realize that.

I'm sure they're not totally isolated from the internet but who knows what goes on in the Japanese Smash community or how closely they follow it. Just don't get any dumb ideas that any of the devs are following SmashBoards religiously looking for inspiration or anything...

Remember Snake? He was shown in a video a day before his confirmation on the dojo.

What confirmation? He was destined to be in Brawl as he was 'SUPPOSED' to be in Melee. He also was 'confirmed' the moment Brawl was announced.

Don't be surprised if it was Famitsu themselves who leaked it. It's a marketting ploy to get people to pick up the magazine.

Im sure he watches around on the internet to keep things up with whats happening here. Ill bet even if Krystal or Ridely are characters he wont release them until he needs to, cause everyone is making such a big deal about them.

BTW Im testing a new sig and I apologize if its way to big.

Somehow I doubt he reads us. He has a man translate the DOJO updates into English; what suggests that his supposed grasp of English is up to the level of this forum?

I wouldn't be surprised if some gadflies lurk these forums and get back to him, though. Tell him I said hi!

I think the general use of the word "Sakurai" has some people confused... he is not single handedly making this game... we just use his name as a general term for everyone making brawl, as he is the big cheese...

That being said, I wouldn't doubt that a lot of people in Sora's massive team know english and scout forums in many languages, or hire people to do so...

I think they would have a relatively good idea what is going on in the Smash community, to what extent, though, I am not quite sure.
