thanks everyone. i have one more question about edgeteching..do i need a true horizontal direction on the ASDI in order to get the edgetech..or can i use say a 1-2 o'clock position or whatnot..the natural one say for doing marth's up B
I am also starting to depress the L button in advance so i only have to do the digital click from reaction time..otherwise i seem too slow.
I'm not totally sure but i think i can edgetech off the 1 o'clock position, but then I have to immediately move the stick horizontal or i jump up and away too far to recover
I personally enjoyed training to tech with prox mines at the far right side of corneria. I'd stand under the wing fin, throw them straight up, up-b into them, and tech. Rinse, wash, and repeat.
1) You don't need to sworry about ASDI in this stage of the game. If you're getting hit by something while recoverying but not touching the stage or bouncing off of it, then you'd want to ASDI by either holding c-stick towards the level before/as you get hit, or hitting towards the level with the control stick as you get hit. You can practice this later, it's hardly necessary for most techs, especially prox mines.
2) The direction you are holding the control stick will rarely ever have any bearing on whether or not you tech. You can make a difference by smashing towards the level with the control stick as you are hit, but unless you need to DI a certain direction to bounce off a lower part of the stage to tech, the direction you are holding is only relevant to teching in terms of whether or not you want to jump-tech. If you do, just hold upward, otherwise, don't.
So: It's almost all in the timing of hitting L or R. The control stick is good for jump-teching, and the C-stick is great for ASDI. Practice what you need to. Again, my favorite solo method was with prox mines on the right of Corneria under the wing fin. Or Jigglypuff's target test level.
