Hometown Hero 'KEN' Defends Japan at Umebura SAT

Against a field of local and international threats, Tokyo-native KEN (:4sonic:) successfully managed to defend his hometown and win Umebura S.A.T, Japan's second international Super Smash Bros. for Wii U event.

KEN, who finished 5th at the previous Umebura and 13th at Evolution 2016, won the tournament through the upper bracket. Only losing games to fellow Japanese player Tsu~ (:4lucario:) and New York's Samuel "DT | Dabuz" Buzby (:rosalina:), he finished his tournament run with a clean 3 - 0 sweep in his rematch against Dabuz.

Around 300 players competed at the Umebura series' second anniversary event, which took place from August 20 - 21. This number included 3 top players from overseas, Nairoby "Nairo" Quezada, Ramin "Mr. R" Delshad and Dabuz, and a host of Japan's finest.

Wow... this is certainly a step up from the already amazing 13th at EVO.
Poor Dabuz, forever doomed to be Mr. 2nd.
Great to see Nairo back on track for sure!

Kind odd since Sonic was usually consider as A tier in most North American tier list, whereas Japanese Smash community consider Sonic as the best character in Smash4. So this tournament slightly gives us a new correction on NA's tier list.

Yes, his Evo placement was amazing but for some reason poeple thinks that not getting top 8 means the player is bad lol.
His only bad results was Ceo at 17th imao...and Pound.
but he won a supermajor and got 3rd on a big japanese Tournament.
As a Naifu and a ZsS main, im happy af :)

There are not S tier characters anymore.
Only A or A(plus) depending on the tier list.
Sonic has been considered top tier for a long time but he is definetly not the best character in the game.

Yeah, but Sonic seems to be a bit low in North Americans tier lists compare to Japan's.

True but at the same time, japan had Wario in top 3 at some point so...
Sonic is top tier in both "Lists", same with Sheik and ZsS lol.
Idk where sonic is In the only official list tho
