Smash 3DS Holding Back: Who will keep playing SSB3DS after SSBU releases?

So here we are, at the final day ever of pre-release Super Smash Brothers 4. No, not just 3DS. But Wii U & 3DS! With a whole new package of content on the horizon, a lot of people are instantly going to jump onto the new game, some from the 3DS version.

But for some players, we are either holding out on the release or planning not to get it at all. Some of us have insufficient time or money, are waiting to receive it for the Holiday Season, are trying to complete the 3DS versions' unlockables, or are simply withholding due to apathy or not having a Wii U.

What are you guys, who will have, Smash Wii U, going to do with Smash 3DS after tomorrow? What about those of you who are sticking with Smash 3DS?

Me? Well, Smash Wii U is a definite Christmas wishlist item for me. I had to split some payments for games I wanted so they can be done at different times of the year. As such, I recently bought both Azure Striker Gunvolt and Mario Kart 8's DLC Pack 1 and am enjoying them. But I'm still playing Smash 3DS all the while, trying to clear Challenge Board 3 (then 4), playing Smash Run to unlock all customs, and collecting all trophies, even for the playable characters. It should hold me over until Smash Wii U sometimes around the holidays.

I'm only laughing because my gold Zelda 3ds XL is partially broken and I need to keep my sanity levels acceptable.

Please Lord(s)/Outer Forces of any and all kinds grant thee the strength to get through Wii U without any rage.

Plenty of people at my college bring their 3DSs to the college every now and then to duke it out, and since bringing a 3DS is waaaay easier to do than setting up a WiiU (especially since there's only one useable TV there), a lot of us will probably be playing it more often anyway.

Well, the topic you're referring to seems more like it's concerning the 3DS version being rendered obsolete by Wii U. My direction here is more about if people will still be using the 3DS versions for certain incentives like Smash Run or playing Smash on the go. But, I guess this concerns people who are getting the full experience (people buying both versions) more than it does standalone 3DS owners, now that I think about it.

Probably gonna be focusing on the Wii U version for a bit though so I can unlock all the characters and stages.

I'll be mainly playing Wii U, but the 3DS version will still get a pretty decent amount of mileage when I'm not at my house or something along those lines.

I bought the 3DS Smash a few weeks ago, and I don't have a Wii U, so I'm not gonna just spend all my money in a month. I'm fine with the 3DS version, thanks. Plus, it's a lot more portable.

I'll use it when I go on trips, when I don't feel like starring at a TV, and when I go to the bathroom.

The only 4 reasons I have to go back are as follows: Mute City, Rainbow Road, Prism Tower, and Yoshi's Island Brawl.

The Wii U version is simply better, but I'll probably touch on the 3DS from time to time. The biggest factor encouraging me to play the 3DS version of the Wii U is just that a few friends don't have a Wii U.

Wow, compare this thread to the Smash subreddit... On the 'Hot' section, all you can see is 'Adapter, Stage Builder, Amiibos, Quickest Way To Unlock Stuff On WiiU, random **** like that, and nothing about 3DS

I'll actually probably play the 3DS version more, unless my friends come over all the time. My training partners both are 3DS only because they dont have the money to buy the U. Also, I can't move the Wii U out of the living room, so until I buy another Wii U for my dorm (which my mom is making me do, despite the fact that the console is mine, for the reason that "my little sisters play it too" even though they almost never do) I'm stuck to playing the 3DS version when anyone wants the T.V.
