I'm kinda new here (just started posting). Hello, I've mained Luigi for about 6 months now. I have a lot of videos on Youtube, search: BearJaw or my username is: kapitol21. I upload them myself. Or click below for some more recent ones. Critique my Luigi nicely please. I know I am still budding. I can only Brawl people on Wifi because I don't know many others who have this game who are competitive. Wifi sucks with Luigi. I think I saw a thread about it once.

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. Kirin (Mario)

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. Plue (Sheik)

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. Travi (Ness)

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. K3NNY (Link)

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. Unk. B (Lucas)

There's more. Message me if you would like to help me train. Luigi's the greatest.

Just got back from watching a rob match of yours, before I knew there were links ont he page lol.

A couple things to say. First of all, you suffer from the syndrome everyone seems to when playing low-mid level brawl. You don't always have to be attacking. Standing still is just fine in brawl (I know, it's weird). You do what I do alot when I'm not on my game, which is getting ancy to get a hit in. Be zen, let the hits come to you.

Second, I found myself almost wanting to yell NAIR at you a few times. When they get above 130%, spam the **** out of it until one hits, it will kill people, I promises. You could have killed that rob like 3 places, where you decided to spot dodge, or uair, or whatever else instead. Fortunately you won anyway. (yes nair was slightly staled, but so was your eventual killer move, the dsmash)

Also, roll isn't a very good approach, like at all.

Most importantly "make me a star", really? I mean, seriously? I hope thats an inside joke :chuckle:

You have promise, keep it up.

Here are the videos on YouTube of BearJaw:

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. JLuva (R.O.B.)

BearJaw (Luigi) vs. JLuva (Ganondorf)

BearJaw (Fire Flower Luigi) vs. JLuva (Luigi)

Biggest Tip Ever: Play different, and more importantly, higher skilled people so you can get better. :luigi2:
I would love to play higher skilled players. I'm more of a Friendcodes.com resident, which kinda has that n00b reputation. I would like to play you guys instead.

I am going to change my play style drastically. I will seriously take this all into consideration. Thank you. I rarely taunt anymore unless I want to aggravate someone. I'm going to edit my first post with some more recent videos. I truly thought I was going to get ripped apart when posting here, very intimidating.

Mate, we are here to help.

I haven't watched your videos in great detail, other than the R.O.B. one, so I don't want to lunge into a critique of your play yet. I am a bit busy at the moment, however I will get to checking them all out for you as soon as possible.

Sure, m8 I'm always there 4 u.

mastertoshima@hotmail.com , add me on msn and we're on, as soon as I get my wii fixed.

On the other side if u want 2 get better I suggest reading the guide, watching a lot of Luigi vidz(i suggest the ones from Simple Luigi Ladder, not only there r a lot of vidz from tht thing, those were all Luigi dittos so u have 2 Luigi's to learn from, how awsome is tht?), and most of all, PRACSTISE, ON LIVE PLAYERS, try new things, get into wigis playstile(tht would be smooth-aerial) and one more thing. Try 2 get ur wifi not lag, cuz Lag sucks with Wigi

Good luck!

I don't have MSN. I rarely play lvl 9 cpus. In fact when I do play a computer, I play a lvl 3 one to get used to habits (I've read that one guide on habits). I am trying to fix my Wifi but I think it's just my location, I'm moving soon so hopefully it'll be better. Thank you for the criticism, Master. We have to play in the future.

Introductions to yourself on a character board as a character main is perfectly acceptable. Especially for luigi, since it's relevant knowlege (now we have 21 mains instead of just 20).

I reached into my *** and pulled out some numbers. Low ones, because there aren't many of us.

Im sorry, I blame the internet for making subtlety impossible.

I watched you versus Lucas because that is who I play against most. You did a nice job of canceling his b-up and avoiding his up-smash. And also a very important thing with quick thinking Lucas' is play mindgames, you can fire a bair on his way down, but make sure it does not hit him, he will use psi-magnet, and he is very vulnerable to an incoming aerial combo. But make sure fireballs don't hit him (16% damage recovered )
Remember to take advantage of all vulnerabilities and space your self from his f-smash. Another 120% above combo is d-throw nair, works every time.
I have a thread here called Luigi vs. Lucas, read that it helps!

-Keep up the good work

Howdy BearJaw! I just saw your videos on the first post, and the Ganondorf vid that Street posted. I found myself screaming at my monitor (not in a literal sense) "nAir! nAir!!" and then, "oh man, you should'a nAired!" Almost evertime you Air Dodged was the perfect time for an nAir. They last about as long and they both can stop you from being attacked, but the nAir has some nice priority so you have great chances of hitting them back or into combos instead. That's not to say you shouldn't Air Dodge anymore... just try nAiring instead of Air Dodging for a while, and you'll realize when to use either move.

And then cr4sh said the same thing. nAir dude. I'll say it one last time in a different way: Luigi's air game is top-notch; other characters have to Air Dodge him, not vice-versa.

You have great timing with Spot Dodges, and you punish pretty well after each. You're even great with Jumpless Rising Cyclones, which is a great move to have when you're in a pinch. I can't do it for squat (Wiimote+Nunchuck means I press B with the index finger), so treasure your lightning fingers. I noticed you used Jumpless Rising Cyclones a few times when you still had a second jump to recover. It's my opinion that it's not useful if you still have your second jump available, but in this I'm in disagreement with the others here. If you feel it works for you, keep doing it. Other than some mistakes (we all make them) you've mastered the recovery. Props.

Also, stop rolling so much. That's another thing I wanted to scream. For Luigi the Roll is only to evade, not to set up ground attacks or approach the enemy. Mainly use Short Hop Aerials for your offensive approaches.

Those few things will improve your Luigi vastly. Other than that, you're pretty solid. Great timing and great recoveries BearJaw.

Thank you for the advice and as of lately, I have ditched the rolling mistakes and it works much better. I am starting to get used to using Nair instead of dodging. I have some videos from today that I'll upload tomorrow sometime.

I'll happily join the Luigi ladder. I don't think I'll do too well but I'm definitely willing to try my best.

EDIT: Sorry for double posting, I hope nobody minds it in these boardz, ppl usually get all like "omg double post u r teh spammer die!" when I double post, and it kinda got into my habbit...

Who me or BearJaw?

I sure will when I fix my wii, but maybe I should wait untill the next one, coz in this one ppl already have a lot of points and it would be kinda hard 2 get there, besides, I will kind be rusty, I need 2 get back in teh play!

Wow. Fast Fall Air Dodge Buffering into a Shield against ROB. Using the Fireball as filler when you get launched back or launch them back against Mario (might have been better against Ike). Jab Cancels with Mario. dSmash to Short Hop bAir. Using fAir to slow your momentum after being launched instead of jumping/airdodging out(not all the time, but you're getting it). Holding a Ledgegrab as a neutral position to Edgeguard Ike. uTilt comboing Ike from 6% to 46%. Dash to Fast Fall Edgehogging Ike.

At the above, I don't know if you already had all these Advanced Techniques in your pocked and I just noticed them in your videos, or you just started using them more. Or perhaps you just picked them up a short while ago and just added them to your game. Whatever it is, I hadn't seen much or most of that in your older videos. Label me impressed for this.

You lost these three games against ShadowVector (who may I just say, is way better than the other guys you showed and can edgeguard like a beast), but you showed massive improvement! Had you not put your name on the videos, I would have thought this was a different Luigi player. Somehow you managed to quicly make a habit of Air Doding and Rolling less, and improve your approach with more Short Hop Aerials. I'm amazed at how quickly you picked it up. Label me impressed again.

As for how to improve your recoveries: I want you to take a look at the Mario vid at the end when he's ****** you with his skilled edgeguarding. Notice that everytime you Rolled into him, he'd punish you with a dSmash. I just wanted to point that out.

But the most helpful move in situations like with Mario, where you seriously need to get to the other side of the opponent with some extra breathing space, is a Grounded Luigi Cyclone. Right as you land or are about to land on the edge, you do a Luigi Cyclone and plow past them. Not to lock them into the Cyclone or to get them with the last hit to launch them into the air, but to simply get some distance. I'll edit this with a link to a video that shows it best, if I can find one.

EDIT: WeeG uses this somewhere near the beginning against a Mario in this video.

Also, if you're looking for some more ATs, I suggest the Hyphen Smash, Jab Grabs, and Jab Fire Jump Punches. Very useful stuff.

I impressed elheber! Whoo hoo! I knew all those ATs, I just have a difficult time using them when playing because 90% of the time I play, there's lag or at least a tinge of lag. Against ShadowVector, there's none because we live a couple hours away & have a Blue Icon. But he's so hard to beat. I'm going to add the cyclone more into my recovery. I would do it sometimes against other people but when his Ike is standing at the edge with a flaming sword, it's horrifying and going anywhere near the stage doesn't sound like a good idea. Less rolling more Jab Fire Punch.

Question: What's the most effective way to edgeguard with Luigi against a strong character like Ike or MetaKnight?
