Lolno, it's not even close. I literally can't think of a player that doesn't play Fox or Falcon except Kabal.

Yeah I know, I find them fun to play as too (though I hate to admit it for Falcon because he's stupid).

i find kirby fun to play, so long as im not in 'stay 10m away, fish with b-air, u-tilt if threatened' mode

fast characters are great because people with meh reaction speed like me can use their speed

Isn't that statement contradicting, like wouldn't you need good reaction speed to keep up with fast characters?

I think faster characters require faster reflexes and less prediction, since you don't have to plan out your moves as far ahead as you need to do with really slow characters. If your character is faster than the other person's and you have good reflexes you can be lazy and simply react to what the other person is doing. If you want to outmaneuver someone with a faster character than you, you'll have to make up for your character's slowness with "negative reaction time", i.e. predicting what the other person is going to do ahead of time since simply reacting, even with 0 reaction time, will still put the other person ahead.

Yeah, looking at a game like Melee, using a fast character when you have slow reaction times is a recipe for disaster.

You definitely gotta step up your game when it comes to playing Falcon or Fox.

Well, a better way to word it would be that I think the possible difference in human reaction time is not very significant (if nobody is drunk or old or anything).

In Smash 64, there's literally no character you need fast hands for. Except maybe Fox if you play him at high level. It's a total different story in Melee. I can't say much for Brawl even though I've played it exclusively before, I still don't know much. Actually, I don't know if this is what you guys are talking about lol. I see words like reaction time and reflexes.

I knew I had my definitions wrong :(

So in Smash how does reaction time apply?
How does fast hands apply in smash?
Reflexes and reaction time are interchangeable in this situation correct?

Reaction time concerns how fast you react to something unexpected.

Fast hands applies to some tech skill I guess, but I don't think it's a significant personal trait either (as in anybody can learn to be technical).

I can't tell you how many times I've seen Falcos and Foxes drop like a goddamn rock to their death after being edgeguarded by a jab. Seems to me like reaction time would come in handy there...
When that happens to me, most of the time it's because I mis-timed my up-B too early, while still in hitstun, and then had a brain-fart staring in idiotic stunned disbelief at the screen wondering why my character didn't jump. The time it takes to fall from the edge of any stage to the lower blast line is a second or two, much more than the ~200 ± 50 milliseconds of average normal human reaction time.
