Help with the "control bosses in Boss Battles mode" hack!

I created this account for one reason, to get help on this.

I have all the codes to control the bosses and the "control bosses" code. They say you have to have a GC controller plugged into port 3. I did that, and I still can not choose their moves! Do I need one in port 1 or will I be using one controller to control both the boss and my char? To prove I am not not doing the right moves, they will not die when I press start.

HELP PLEASE!
