I've recently been inspired by seeing a lot of good Falcon players to try and start playing the guy, and i am getting better but I still mostly suck a lot.

I know his aerials are good, all of them. And hes supposed to have a decent JC grab, dash dance game, jump speed and range...i know his sideB is good for comboes, and his up B possibly as well...i know about his extra jump..meteor smash and spike..

But what i do not know is how to effectively SHFFL his attacks....I have especially a lot of problem with his Sex kick/ Neutral Air because it is 2 kicks not one so its hard to time to hit people with it....also how in the world are yo suppposed to advance with it toward somoene because youre supposed to jump toward them with the control sick but then u cant DI cause u cant be pressing a direction or it will be fair or bair or something else....neutral air is just a hard thing for me to do while going toward someone with a controller without missing them...does this make any sense? I hope so..

Another thing, short hopping is quite hard, how do you short hop a uair effectively, i am having issues with this...

how do you sweetspot the knee, the knee is the best move he has and yet for me its the hardest to pull off, i rarely get any off during a m atch despite trying very hard...its just hard to hit with it for some reason..

how are you supposed to recover mindgame so you dont get owned?.

additionally, what do you do if the opponents every move outprioritizes you?

Also I have trouble just in general with all characters using SHFFL because how are you supposed to have time to do all that crap before you land, short hop aerial fast fall and L cancel ...i never remember to L cancel and if I do i have issues pulling it off...fast falling is hard for me as well to do cause then my aerial doesnt work cause i fall too fast...short hops are hard i keep full hopping etc..

I am however proud that i have gotten a lot better at wavedashing..and to a certain extent wavelanding as well....although not nearly as consistent as pro level players

But i still suck at dash dancing....i cant do it....its too hard..

Any help on these subjects is greatly appreciated, thank you

Im just a noob trying to improve my game so I can get to pro level basically...but having issues as all noobs do along their journey to greatness

When you play Falcon, it is imperative that you use him in training mode for some time. He's one of those characters that you can either do great stuff with, or suck massively with. He's not a particularly easy character to pick up and play effectively due to sensitive controls.

To short hop, bash the X or Y button has hard as possible so the recoil forces your finger off.

If you must, use the C-stick for aerials, although personally, I don't need it to effectively pull off my D-airs or U-airs.

Rinse and repeat, and then try comboing someone. Oh, and grab combos are also critical for Falcon to master.

Hm well im sorta bored and waiting on a huge install so i'll help you out :)

1. SHFFL:
- Do this in steps.
- Start with the short hop (people do this differently, but the less time you spend pressing the button, the shorter the hop, I think. I mean to me it's instinct now. Just tap and release quickly.)
- Then, add a fast fall to that.
- Then you stick an aerial in before you fast fall.
- Then you add the L-cancel in after the aerial but before you hit the ground.
It's easier said than done, and you have to do it rather quickly. The only way to get better is practice. I recommend using link, and using his aerial down-A. You can tell the difference if you were able to L-cancel it because there is significantly less lag/less time it takes for him to pull his sword out the ground.

2. His nair:
- You say you have trouble doing this because you , and i quote: "you jump toward them with the control stick." Now, sorry if I misunderstand this but I hope you're not jumping with the control stick. Use the x/y button, and just let go of the control stick once you're in momentum after you jump. Then just hit A by itself, and your momentum should still carry you forward as you do the nair. Not hard at all.

3. shffling uair:
- Use c-stick. Get SHFFLing second nature for yourself on his other aerials, then practice the uair shffls last. The c-stick makes it much, much easier. There is a catch, you have to delay the L-cancel if you hit an object/enemy. This makes juggling/combo-ing a little tricky to get fluid at. Again you just have to practice and get the feel for the appropriate time to hit L, practice on something heavy like a cpu ganon, so you can get alot of uairs in until he's too high damaged to combo.

4. knee:
- You just get better at sweet spotting this over time. Try to hit them where his joint is between his thigh and calves. Not that hard at all, practice is what it takes. If it helps, you can cstick this too.

5. recovery tricks:
- Um this takes a lot of deaths due to your crappy recovery, but you will eventually learn the right moments to do certain moves. Just watch your opponent as you recover, and depending on their position and you thinking smart, learn when to fake it and DI backwards to grab the ledge, or go straight over their heads and land past them onto the stage. Also, it's pretty crucial to learn ledge-teching with CF. It's a huge lifesaver for any character, but moreso for falcon's crap up+b.

6. outprioritized:
- It's all about the spacing and timing. Look for openings and make your combos accurate and quick. Go back on defensive if you have to. If you maintain good spacing you shouldn't be clashing attacks/getting outprioritized. Be on the lookout for strong priority moves, basically attacks with a long duration or quick execution, like nairs from a few characters. Spacing is very important, so get used to the range of your attacks and know your limits.

7. dash dancing?
- Has to be the easiest tech to learn. Just smash the control stick back and forth, don't hold it too long in the left or right direction, just have it hit the side and move it to the opposite. Don't understand how hard this could be.

Well, hope that helps, and **** this install is still going. lol.

iight let me tell you. i was exactly in your position in about august. now im a pro. so it took about 5 months. the first 3 months were non-stop-get-home-and-play days. then little by little i became me. im just telling you that it takes about 5 months. well it did for me. my mind is just incredible.
SHFFLing took me up till now. wavedashing is freakin easy as hell so is dash dancing. MOONWALKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is the sexiest thing ever. im getting so sexy at it. youll gt everything over months with practice.

quick question. im having some trouble coming back onto the stage with an aerial from the edge. what buttons do some of you guys use for this? ive been trying: tilt the control stick away from the edge (not down), then tilting up and forward to come back onto the stage, and using the c-stick to do an aerial. but using this method i usually just fall under the stage with my knee outstretched >_>' which buttons do u guys use?
thanks!

uhhh...hit down on the analog and jump right away and DI onto the stage. Then c-stick your aerial.
