Having BIG trouble with TV lag

Hey.
I come here today to talk about my huge problem with TV lag. It just really bugs me, and while I may sound annoying complaining about it all the time, I just don't feel like stop going to tournaments for that and all that. But it really affects my performance.

What can I do about it?

By the way, most people say that CRTs have no lag, but it's the TVs I suffer he most lag from. Moving my character just feels like a statue.

CRTs shouldnt have any noticeable input lag. If your TV is an issue what i would highly recemend is checking out a Pawn shop in your area or craigslist/yard sales for someone ditching their old CRT cause they have been pretty much phased out by this point and people literally give them away. i play brawl on my tiny little 14" CRT in my room which i paid like 10 bucks for at a yard sale.

I would avoid playing your wii on an HD TV though A because most of them have noticeable input lag unless your like paying a nice chunk of cash for high end TVs (usually its not a priority on more affordable TV) also the image quality due to the upscalers being cheapend on more affordable HD TVs tends to be pretty crappy to thus the game looks bad to >.> although generally speaking the "affordable rate" of an HD TV has became far more reasonable as of late so its really up to you.

Or you can just tough it out and play with the input lag really. Also just a curious question what controller/setup are you using that can also be an issue. Ive played with 3rd party wireless gamecube controllers for example that are a tad sluggish.

One thing you could do is just play on wifi for a little while. If you can get used to (or even just to the point where you can tolerate) the lag online, you'll never notice TV lag again.

I.... Find myself baffled at how you can claim to be experiencing lag playing on a CRT.

Can you elaborate?

I've had pretty severe lag on a tiny off-brand CRT trying to play Tatsunoko VS Capcom from a USB drive

I'm pretty sure there was something physically defective with either the cable or the port though

Anyway if it's a really big deal he can buy a CRT second hand really really cheap nowadays

Saw a 32" CRT for 30 bucks at a Thrift store a couple days ago. Every TOs dream!

Oh yeah, it's worth-mentioning that I use a Classic Controller. You know, that wireless thing hooked-up to a Wiimote. 8P
A friend told me that wireless suffers lag, and it's been pretty much confirmed here at Smashboards that we Wiimote/Nunchuk/CC suffer a total of 6 frames of input lag (4 from the actual controller, and 2 from the actual game).

Yeah, it's really strange. But pretty much what Flayl said.
On this one tournament, the TVs were really laggy. Even other friends complained about it- Which is strange, considering I'm usually, if not the only one complaining about lag. Turns out it was what Flayl mentioned.
But yeah, I suffer this in most CRTs I've played on. It's strange, but true. The whole game just feels slower.
Shouldn't I feel the game faster at other places if I'm used to the LCD screens at home?

Oh- And yeah, the CRTs can be found pretty cheap, even over here. But buying another TV is just unnecessary, as nice as it would be.
