I know this is off topic but I do feel this is somehow related.
MLG needs to start rethinking its strategy. Online tournaments simply wont do.
Every gamer who is connected with MLG has had the same aspiring thoughts. They want to go to or hear about tournaments that happen in real life. They want to experience or have heard of a tournament where the best have competed.
If a tournament is run through the internet people instantly realize the problems associated with that. Lag, cheating, etc. This is obviously a problem.
MLG is trying to make a quick buck. By investing in online tournaments MLG doesn't have to deal with the heavy costs of a real life tournament. For the long run, this does not establish a base that can have faithful customers. If internet tournaments remain people will realize that MLG isn't a powerful market. MLG won't provide that Disneyesk experience that people want. In the end it will cause a bad turn of results if internet tournaments continue.
