handoff grab = infinite?

the handoff grab supposedly ends once you reach the edge, but i dont think this is the case.
i have managed to regrab at the edge by slightly altering the dthrow timing and then do a dashgrab, you have to do the grab a bit earlier since it takes longer to perform but the extra range allows you to regrab. Since this puts you right back at the edge you can repeat this how many times as you want.

works on most chars i have tried so far, just having big problems doing it on the spacies, think i'v managed to do it once on fox.

Could you explain what you're doing better?

I don't see how altering the dthrow timing would help at all. The only way I could think of regaining space to continue the handoff during dthrow would be if Nana could move backwards slightly before grabbing, maybe by walking back or short hopping backwards or something. If you could do that such that Nana's grab could still connect, you might be able to have Popo stand in place and grab again, which would result in an infinite.

I don't understand the significance of the dash grab. Does it have a little more range than a normal grab (I feel like I should already know these things sometimes >_>)? If so, then when you have Nana right at the edge doing an fthrow, you could have Popo dash back and then dash towards the edge and grab with Popo, and if that grab could land, that would also result in an infinite.

@ fly: im talking about when you reach the edge the dthrow to nana regrab requires slightly different timing for it to connect, no need to move her from the edge. then when she fthrows you have to dashgrab, since a standing grab doesnt have enough range to regrab. dashdanching into a dashgrab makes the dashgrab easier, but is too slow if nana throws immediately, i just dashgrab from standing still at the edge.

breaking it down, stand at the edge, to the point where they start to wiggle and look like they are losing their balance, grab, dthrow with popo, regrab with nana, nana fthrows and then you dashgrab. if you grab too late after initiating the dash you will fall off the edge.

I haven't been able to test it. I only have access to Melee at tournaments, but it's hard to get a TV to myself to figure things out.

edit: its actually not speed related, neither size, i can do it on puff aswell as kirby, no clue why i cant manage to do it on the spacies.

I've been trying this a bunch. The timings weird though cause when nana grabs sometimes she does her pummels more then once/sometimes at all, and its been throwing me off. =_=

If space is no longer an issue, why not use Fthrow for Nana's regrab? Just wondering, it does more damage.

possible, but much harder. dashgrabbing during both regrabs increases the risk of falling of with one of the climbers, not to mention you have to throw forward, let it go back to neutral, wait and then dashgrab without nana moving from the forward throw(not that hard, but some have shaky hands).
