I was surfing joystiq and kotaku and this halo ds article caught my attention:

I thought this was just an overblown rumor started from Bungie guys saying "Halo would be cool on the DS". I mean, the Back Room basically has Smash Bros DS by that standard (a faked video).

I was thinking this originally but M$ has done some stuff with the ds before (diddy kong racing anyone).

I'm just surprised that ign released the videos and the timing that they released it.(rumours that bungie and M$ will split up (I think its just a rumor, nothing more))

B. Also, Bungie is OWNED by MS. It's part of Microsoft, the only way a split could form is if the Bungie guys left and formed their own company, but the IP of Halo is owned by MS. So don't expect to ever see it on DS. Period.

Also, Diddy Kong Racing was on DS when Rare wasn't owned by MS.

B. Oh I completely understand that . I believe that the rumor is false. I'm just saying its being talked about alot.

C. Actually CK your wrong about Diddy Kong Racing. The Microsoft buyout was in 2002, and Diddy Kong racing was released 2007. The game itself was missing two characters that the original N64 version had, Conker and Banjo.

Microsoft at the time had control over rare the time that DK Racing was being created.

Even Today Microsoft controlled properties are still heading for the ds,. just look at Viva Piñata DS

Who knows, one day you may see Halo DS on shelves.

I highly doubt it as he's already told us it's been cancelled and will "never set foot in retail stores".

Too bad the only level they made was Zanzibar. It would have been so fun to play via Wifi for people who do not own an Xbox or Xbox 360 and an Xbox Live gold membersship. The graphics could've used some work through (Metroid Prime Hunters had awsome graphics for the DS) and the sound kind of reminded me of Goldeneye Rogue Agent.

Meh, I was unimpressed with Halo compared to other PC shooters. I think FPSes on DS would be terrible. And I no longer own a DS. So this matters very little to me.

Not to sound so a conspiracy theorist but this might be why it was cancelled. Microsoft may want to enter the handheld arena they would want a portable Halo to be exclusive to them. Not only that but do they really want to give Nintendo another profitable game on the DS? It seems like Sony would be the lesser of two evils in this situation.

I don't think Microsoft has any interest in entering the hand held market still. Viva Pinata is coming out for the DS, and that's one of Microsoft's few family friendly games, which I'm sure they wouldn't want to be handing out to different companies if they had their own device in the making.

Well now that Bungie is not owned by Microsoft Game Studios anymore...I'm willing to bet that Microsoft will release a handheld in the future with a Halo game for it.

And apparently "Halo DS" was a modified version of the 007 game released on the DS.

This rumor has been circulating for a while and as you know we even saw some real life screens and assets this week. Ultimately it's up to Microsoft to decide if and when they take Halo to a different platform. That particular demo was in fact created and I believe it was an unsolicited pitch a long time ago but nothing ever came of it.

What was so wrong with Metroid Prime Hunters? I liked that game!

It was glitchy as hell, and there were so many exploits that the game got stupid after a while. falling into rocks? going through walls? SOrry, it was great at first, and then it became ********.
