I don't doubt chudat's skill with pikachu. I've seen it play against competant players, and while i'm not a fan of his style, I can see how well and smart he plays with pika.
I guess I just don't see why he would be in a pika hall of fame while others of us are not. I can get past the "it not being his main" thing, I just don't think he's contributed to Pikachu much. Chu is a really good ICs, and his Young Link is pretty spectacular as well, but his pika just seems fairly new. Would you put him on the Pichu hall of fame as well because he played a competative pichu in tourneys for a while? Or put Azen in the hall of fame for pika, zelda, yoshi, luigi, and almost every other low tier character because he's played them in tourney at some point against top players? Azen is in the hall of fame, yes, but I wouldn't say for that reason.
I can see Azen as being in the hall of fame not because of his current impressive ability with pikachu, but because back in the day he was THE american competative pikachu. There was Azen from the US, pictishfreak from Europe, and AK from japan, and that was about it. For a good time, no one here was known very well for pikachu besides Azen. He showed that pikachu can be played competatively and gave a general idea of where he could be put on the tierlist. Later on, other competative pikachus started popping up. Vidjo had a competative pikachu for a while, I started becoming decently known, Phillybilly started getting really good, then Chad and Zig made names for themselves by taking out some good players in tournaments, Anther starting wowing people with his unique style and decent tournament placedments, then Chu started doing well with pikachu, and AXE has recently showed his potential in Arizona. Chu's pika came fairly late in the game, and personally hasn't convinced me that it's worthy of the hall of fame quite yet. Perhaps eventually, just not yet.
Zig's explanation makes a lot of sense to me. A lot of us have had notable acheivements. Personally, I've beaten Joe Bushman and Plairnkk in pools (granted plairnkk wasn't quite as good then), beaten PC&Milktea and Zoso&Kaiser in teams at Cataclysm3 (with DK teammate Kwan), ***** (aka 2-0'd with one match being a 5stock) Nite&Shiz in teams at FcDiamond, took a match off DoH and beat KishSquared in pools at FCDiamond, and had a lot of other close matches with competative players. I'm sure in a competative environment nowadays Chudat's pika would do better than mine, but I honestly don't see how greatly he's contributed to pikachu as a character while a lot of us were here owning with the rat previous.
Maybe I'm territorial. I just believe there are pikachu players out there like Chad and Zigzag that are more deserving of being in the hall of fame than him, so if he was put in then others should be added as well.
