During the initial part of your dash animation you can fsmash in either direction. I personally think this will help Samus since her fsmash has garbage range. Do this out of shield instead of normal fsmash in those times you'd miss.

Anyway, to do it is simple just takes timing. Just dash and hit cstick. The size of your step is variable so timing is crucial to get the largest step. Here's a vid:

very nice, i'm guessing you can do this with any attack? might be pretty good with the backwards thing
seems almost like a ******** wavedash to attack

i can see all the marth players doing this now lol

up on cstick will make you do a full dash upsmash, down on cstick forces dash attack. I haven't messed with changing the controls so cstick tilts.

I need to try this. My biggest issue with my friend (who plays falco) is that his neutral A can hit me when my fmsash and dsmash can't.

You know, I posted almost the exact same thing on the 'o...m...g... fsmash' thread, but my computer froze after I clicked reply. Oh well, either way, it gets my point across eh?

I wanted to try this after I performed a pivoted fsmash in melee. Oh, and before I thought of the pivoted fsmash, I remembered that thread about Sonic's range extension on his fsmash by dashdancing into it.

An example of this move's combo potential. Jab>jab cancel>jab>half steped fsmash. Haha, that was the exact thing I was doing in melee too! =P

That's very true. Imagine if you were Sonic or Wario. Their fsmash's range is even less than Samus'. Every inch (or centimeter) counts! ...Unless you're Marth, I'm glad Sakurai gave you a dagger instead of your sword!! *insert frustrated expression here*

Good Stuff Rohins I experimented with this a bit after you told me. I was able to down smash out of dash animation also if dashing and c-stick will do dash attack. Experimented further and possible cc maybe running smash down and c-stick same time quick forward smash. Don't know if what I said above was discovered yet or mentioned. Also can forward smash out of dash dance which Rohins stated to me. I can see this helping her forward smash every inch I can get I will take. I'll continue to experiment with this and other movement tricks.

From the youtube description: "I'm not sure if this was discovered already but I figured this out on my own."

It's been discussed in the Brawl tactics section a ways back. Captain Falcon has the most noticeable improvement from it if I remember correctly. There's also a way to increase the distance further with a number of characters, but I don't believe they applied to Samus.

Even though it's known, it's still worth a mention here. Samus needs all the helps he can get with her fsmash hitbox.

Ok I've experimented more with this and discussed it over with Rohins. You can do this a few different ways there is using the A button to initiate the f-smash after the step. I was able to do it by stepping with controller and immediately c-stick forward smash. Also can dash when animation is ending c-stick down will result in down smash too soon will result in running attack. If running smash down on controller and c-stick forward smash will have slight momentum of run in forward smash similar to half stepping. Also when running smash down and hold as soon as possible press A or c-stick down while still holding down will result in slight slide down-tilt. Possible uses of these techniques are spacing and approaches make opponent think you are going to do running grab or dash attack they will shield side step react accordingly and punish.

Unfortunately I do not have good recording software so I can't put up videos right now. I might be able to later in the week but won't be best quality.

Good find Rohins. With the loss of wavedashing in melee, the extra spacing of this technique for Brawl will help significantly in some situations.

Yes this is very useful for Samus otherwise crappy Fsmash range. I first read about it in the CF boards a couple of weeks ago, but that shouldn't hold back this great ***** of ours.

Nice bringing this up Rohins ; )

NP glad I could help if I find out and more info I will post. Shields are strong in this game and how perfect shield works able to shield drop down smash just don't do too much or you get predictable. Any way Samus can get extra spacing is a must and I'll take it any way I can get. Do you play online cause if u do let me know and I'll add you.

Sometimes it's tiny space that causes you to miss a good punish.
Exactly. It's happened more than once where Sonic's nose was sniffing the inside of my arm cannon, just barely missing my hit on him. I'll see if I can really put this to some use.

Yeah I've been using this a lot more with my usmash, considering it is quite a tricky tactic where opponents above you aren't expecting it/can't avoid it. I've really enjoyed this tactic, and I'm glad you brought it up.
