it duplicate a pokemon with the item its holding
this is confirmed and no lying
well i still have no prove since no camera lol
but seriously it god darn works even on this newly released US version
the reason why it is so hard to make it work is because the timing is different each time
i made it worked 6 times out of 20 something tries in the past 3 days
and i swaer to jesus that i was not lying.

...we're talking about different glitches. The glitch the topic is about is the glitch you just mentioned, which duplicates the pokemon and the item it's holding. The glitch that was just brought up is the ditto glitch from the japanese version, which allows you to duplicate the ITEM, and nothing but the ITEM, but was supposed to have been removed from the english version.

Does it still work for the english version though?

No, it just takes "a whole bunch of times." to get the timing down.

Is there a timing to using the item cloning glitch? afaik that was just using moves in battle

And once again...

ITEM CLONING GLITCH =/= GTS POKEMON CLONING

I don't deny the gts cloning glitch. For the second time I've had to clarify... this is the item cloning glitch using ditto that I'm talking about, that was in the japanese versions, and was supposed to be taken out for the english versions. Someone here claims that that trick still works, but only if you do it a bunch of times. I'm sorry, but until I see a video of the ditto item cloning glitch I don't believe it.

well, yang, the rotations you have yo wait vary depending on the pokemon. so what you should do is count how many rotations there are after 7 360 degree turns and then turn it off one or two turns before that.

The best way to do the GTS Duplication is with a wireless router. This was also noted on GFAQs...

- Deposit in GTS
- When it asks for confirmation of the offer, watch your router as you hit A ("Yes").
- Two lights on the router should start blinking.
- With my connection, i started counting when I hit the A button and after 16-17 seconds, the light will start to blink again.
-When the lights blink the second time, that's when you shut off your DS.

This is the most consistent way I know of to do it. It helps to have a clock nearby to help you count down. You'll want to shut off the DS pretty much right after the light blink a second time.

I'm thinking when the lights blink the first time, you're sending the trade info out of your DS, and the second time is when your Poke is put up for trade.... or something like that. But yeah, only works for people with wireless routers...

So if I'm understanding this correctly, the goal is to turn off the DS one or two ticks of the clock before the screen would have changed to the pokeball screen?

edit: ew, i know, gross. but im linking to the gamefaqs page.

What you could do is first deposit, count the number of rotations+extra ticks after. Then, take the poke back out then deposit again. Then yes, you're looking to turn it off two ticks before... but it's still not guarenteed using this method. You might get it a few times but timing is still off by doing it like this.

Oh, you NEED to see the blue screen when the game starts up, or else the glitch did't work.

So what if I do get the blue screen, but my Pokemon's not duped? Am I doing it too early? Late? O_o I still have it with me after the blue screen.

I tried this cloning glitch on my game yesterday, offered my Dialga for a lvl 100 Palkia, thinking I could get back on GTS in time to grab it (and hopefully clone it). When I got back on, someone had traded me their Palkia, but I still had my Dialga. Lol.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in the thread yet, but I believe that you can actually use your router to tell when to do it. I'll see if I can find the post that said this.

edit: if that post was here and not at smogon I would sure feel like an idiot right now

edit2: Wow. Yeah. I feel like an idiot. It was right here on this forum.

If you have a wireless router, then raichur0xx0rz's strategy works better, if not, then my Revolution/Rotation startegy works better.

The best part of this, while I do do it on occasion, is that there are a few guides that advise players to offer the poke they're cloning for, say, a lvl 100 Abra. I got a deoxys with a masterball on it for my lvl 100 abra when someone was trying to clone it I guess lol. Moral of the story: LVL 9 and under Deoxys.

Sometimes it makes you restart your game. I heard that a lot at serebii. i am kind of reluctant to clone my shiny dialga which i so luckily nicked when i tried to catch a dialga with perfect ivs. The shiny one does not have perf ivs, though. its modest.but it sucks

I've heard people say it, but it doesn't make sense that it would mess up your game. The programmers took a very important step in instituting the double save feature, which is meant to prevent the loss of save files. The reason the cloning glitch works is because you pokemon is uploaded into the GTS, but that save file gets corrupted, and because of the double save feature, it uses the last save as a backup, so you have your pokemon as if you never went into the GTS, but because of corrupting the file at just the right point, it will still be in the GTS.

Point being. I am at a loss to understand how it would corrupt TWO save files.

This never works no matter how many blue screens I get : (!

No wonder it isn't stickied.
