Ness is ok... but i think that samus is much better. When your oppponent is at high percent him em' with a full charged B. after that , they will go flying off the stage.

According to the tier list...

Ness is top/high tier and Samus is bottom tier.

You don't know what your talking about.

ROFL! Samus = worst character period

However Ness CAN'T be top tier, Pika and Kirby are way better and way more close to be broken than Ness is. Ness recovery is one of the worst. Totally interceptable. You have a really hard time trying to return on the stage, and most of times you cant if your opponent edgeguards well.

IMO:

1- Pikachu
2- Kirby

(huge distance)

3- Ness
4- Fox
5- Falcon
.....

Fox > Ness

And Ness is top tier. The tier list is way incorrect but going by the one we have now, Ness is top.

I think Ness is high tier, same level to Fox and Falcon. But c'mon putting the kid in top along with the broken Kirby and the too good pikachu is too much

no its not, why do you, come into this thread, post the starting debate...support it with no new facts (or any at all) and expect to actually raise a point?

Oh c'mon, lots of years playing this game and my main is Ness. His recovery is his big weakness no doubt. And a very crucial weakness. Recovery is very important in this game.
Link is put on bottom tier mainly because of his terrible recovery. So the same I think of Ness. I think he can't be put on top tier along with Pikachu and Kirby.

haha the arguement me and BHL got into about Ness's recovery came to a stand still because! neither of us had any real STRONG points to make about it...he can sweetspot...his movset makes him very strong, highest priorty spike in the game...very high priorty Utilt (this is a must for Top tier) and very liquid combos

And i dont know if you did but, i check with Ant-D's Smash data (he did some good studies on smash attack for all chars) and Ness showsed very well on these charts :o...which is just one more reason i think he SHOULD be top tier

Do you play Ness often? Do you know how difficult is really to sweetspot everytime? You have to be absolutely precise with the PK thunder, and although he has some invincibility frames, he the last ones arent.

Ness isnt top tier material. He's a child afterall

If anything falcon should be top tier, since he's so awesome.. but we all know why he isnt haha.

Fox too he could be placed top tier, hes just sooooooo good in the right hands.

Tiers are lame in ssb64 anyway since theres not much of a tournament scene, just pick the character you're comfortable with and have fun is what I say, or just play a bunch of chracters like most people!

lol and Samus is a girl so shes bottom tier...

No seriously all of them (Ness Falcon and Fox) are really good, but they are no matches for the two broken or vey close to be broken chars: Kirby and Pikachu.

Kirby blows, he's got a broken a** arsenal of moves but his combos are so boring and hes so lame that very few people actually want to pick him, and the ones that do are just trying to take advantage of his broken moves and therefore are lacking the confidence to play a different character, and will get schooled by even a good samus player.

I hate kirby, hes just boring in general.

this can be said abotu every char...why do you peopel who bash ness act like he is the only char you can edge gaurd?

Mario sucks because Falcon punch kills him at 70%!!!!
Ness is the edgeguarding punching bag and everybody knows that

Link, CF, Fox, and Yoshi (concidering his second jump is meh)
all are =/= Ness's recovery...

Link is bottom tier..so theres no way for me to defend with him :p
CF and Fox are debated (Going by what you said) for top tier or high...so they should be same as ness?
Yoshi is also being considered (by others on this board...and thread) to be high-mid high tier so again same point

I dont think Ness's recovery, even if it IS as bad as you say, should put him off high tier unless your will to take Fox and CF off top tier...for chars with good Recoverys only :o

I like is fair and dash attack better in melee because of the sparkles that come out they give him more range

Haha Ness has one of the few usable Dash attacks in Smash64, a lot of other chars are allmost usless (DK, Pika, jiggly, Kirby[kinda]) I can allmost say Fox too but that could be argued

I play as Kirby, but I picked him years before I even knew what tiers were. So ehm yeah...

At least 90% of smashers mained Kirby in there earlier days not knowing much.

89% figured out how gay he was and moved on to better characters.
LOL

90% of smashers when newbies simply wanted to stay in the ground and not fall down, we all had fear of it lol

Thats not why people start with kirby haha, im pretty sure it has to do with priorty and smash range...perhaps
Well at least that was the reason in the case of me and my crew, that was a lot of years ago but I remember it well. We all tried to edgeguard and knock each other out. But we couldnt edgeguard Kirby so we kept using him until we got bored of his lameness. Thats the main reason, not the only one of course
