Goon farming... how to?

Yes there are threads about it, but nobody said how you actually do it. The only thing I know is that you have to press a button at a certain frame during the over B... well, what button? And can you throw any item of your choice? Or just either a dragoon item, or something else that is random and depends on the item switch?
