Good/Bad Pokémon Card Trades

We were all there at one point - the world of Pokémon card collecting. What were the best and worst trades that you ever made?

Best: Traded a [bent] Charizard (you know which one I'm talking about) for about 20 holos and rares from the first Generation 2 card set. About a week or two later, I got a perfect condition 1st edition Charizard to replace my missing one.

Worst: In the same day, I traded an Arcanine for a holo Blastoise (great trade), but later on traded that Blastoise for a japanese Ninetales (most regretted Pokémon card trade ever). I never got that kind of Blastoise again (and only have Team Rocket's Blastoise now). I guess by fooling the kid into thinking that Arcanine was better than Blastoise because his attack was stronger, karma kicked me in the rear and persuaded me to trade it for a Ninetales... a Pokémon that I have never cared about.

Other trades:

Bad: My first two booster packs yielded a Zapdos and a Poliwrath (both holo). Immediately after opening them, some kid wanted my Poliwrath, so he traded me a Zapdos for it. Ironically, I ended up with two Zapdos. I never got a Poliwrath again for about three years (nor did I ever see one).

Good: My friend bought the first type of Mewtwo for $10. I wanted to trade anything for it, and eventually sufficed with a Gyarados. This wasn't necessarily a bad trade, because even though that Mewtwo was weaker than Gyarados, it was ****ing awesome. Fortunately (if I remember correctly) I had another Gyarados, OR got a new one soon after.

Good: Another friend of mine had the first Venusaur (oh boy, did I WANT that), and I had never seen one before. I ended up trading him a Chansey, Porygon (maybe), and a couple of others for it.

All in all, I still have all of my cards and will not sell them (like most people do). Although I have no use for them, those cards were a huge part of my childhood, as they were for many of us. Please feel free to share your trading experiences.

I don't remember a whole lot of my Pokemon card trades, as that was a while ago...but I do remember a couple.

BEST: Traded a Blaine's Arcanine for a holo Charizard. He can do 120 damage, so I guess they thought he was awesome? Charizard still rocks over it any day. Still have that card. :) And the rest of my cards. Well, except for my nearly complete Erika set which got stolen...*sniff* :(

WORST: Well, this isn't mine, but a friend of mine traded a Charizard for a Japanese Rapidash.

Man, I have both a Japanese and English Blaine's Arcanine. I remember when I first saw that card on the internet yeeeeeeears ago, I had to buy the Japanese deck (this was before the English version of Blaine's deck came out).

Facepalm.

Anyone remember Rocket's Mewtwo? It had three attacks, and was easily one of the best looking Mewtwo cards.

Yeah, vaguely. I remember waaay back, my sister tried to collect every Rocket card...I think she almost succeeded. I can't remember if she ever got it, but if she did, I wonder if she still has it.

Oh yeah, PS, does anyone else have the Rainbow/Tropical Island cards? I have all four sets. An Arts & Crafts store near me, which also sells trading cards, had them a while ago so I picked them up. I mean, how could I resist?

One more interesting thing about Pokemon cards...once I got a Japanese Neo pack, and I was thinking to myself, "Wow, it would be so awesome if I got a Lugia...but it'll never happen." Sure enough, I open the pack, and voila! A holographic, Japanese, Lugia. Probably the best card I ever got in a pack.

A long time ago... like since when Pokemon first came out, I gave my friend his Pokemon card in exchange for some HomeWork =D

I feel kinda guilty beacuse it was a common card...

Best trade: Some kid at this pokemon club I used to go to (lol) was obsessed with Arcanines. I traded him my Arcanine for a French 1st edition Zapdos.

Worst: I got a Charizard one morning (always get Blastoise packs!). Three days later my brother takes it and trades it for Machoke because Machoke "kicks your ***"

Ugh.

Ages ago, I bought one of the Japanese Tropical Island packs (the one with Marrill) at a time before Gold and Silver were even released, so owning a Tropical Island 2nd Generation Pokemon was my time as a Pokemon card God amongst my friends. About a year or two later, my friend walked into my backyard one day with the complete English set - all 18 cards, the binder, the post cards, and all. He said, "Hey I was given this, but don't want it, I figured you might want it instead." Yeah, that was really generous of him, but he and an older friend of his stole a ton of my cards about a year beforehand. Luckily, his mother found out and retrieved all of mine and his older friend's cards (who got mixed up with mine) and gave them all to me. Jackpot! I guess it was his way of repaying for that incident. Anyways, those Tropical Island cards will never leave my collection (especially the Marrill).

Wow. Good old times. I remember the first pack I bought was a Jungle Booster pack and the rare card was a holo Jolteon :D

When I finished 8th grade, a friend of mine gave me his Charizard. Then a month later, I traded some useless cards and I got yet another Charizard. The third one I gave a Machamp for it (lol). Then I remember that a random day I bought a Gym Leaders Booster pack just for the lulz and a Blaine's Charizard was the rare card. Several months later, a set containing "shiny" Pokemons was released. I bought a booster just for the lulz (again), guess what card came out: Shiny Charizard. About a year later I went to a comic store and I saw they were selling Team Rocket boosters. This time Dark Charizard was added to my collection.

Trades, I did a lot of trades. Good ones. I still got all my cards except Shiny Charizard... I don't know wtf I did with that card...

I think I'm the same with Mewtwos. I have too many to count (including promos which I still cannot remember how I obtained them).

That's me and the Pikachu family (mainly Pikachus). I actually went after them, so it's not surprising, but...yeah, I have a lot.

Too many?

EDIT: Ooh...didn't realize how blurry those pictures are, sorry. I can't hold a camera steady for my life. Well, you can see how many of them I have, at least.

Whoa, on page 3 -- what in the world is that Raichu with the blue background? Other than the background, it's identical to the original Raichu.... but I have never seen that kind before. It isn't holo, is it?

Ah, yes, I should've mentioned; I'm pretty sure that's a fake. I traded like...what, a Vulpix, I think, for it, knowing that it was fake. But it was a Raichu, and since I could trade something simple for it, I took it. It's an un-holographic version of the original Raichu.

Now I remember, it is definitely fake, because the Pokeball on the back is upside down and if you hold the card up to light, you can see through it. So yeah, I knew it was fake, but I wanted it for my collection so I traded a common card for it.

lol, this is easily one of my worst trades:

Sharpedo EX for an Empolean. I was happy at first, and then I bought somecards and got three more in a row. >_<

Best:
7 common cards for Deoxys EX.

Ahh this brings it back
Best trade: Vulpix for Gyrados
Made my day that did, was fed up of silly old magikaap and could finally unleash that dragon power.
Worst trade: Chansey for 2 Mewtwo's
Nothing wrong with mewtwo but this one was an EPIC fail, the girl i traded with kept going on about the equality in Hp of the trade, worst decision i ever made lol

Best trade: My original Venusaur and Zapdos for my friend's original holo-foil first edition Charizard.

The original Charizard used to be the rarest card in the entire TCG. I don't know if that's still the case anymore. I think I still have it, somewhere in a box.

I just got another editon to my charizard collection. I traded this person for a shiny charizard for a pair of blaine's magmars (uncommon, he LOVES magmars).
