A rumor has emerged from the IGN forums. An user well known for bringing accurate information from nintendo has posted some facts:

  • Nintendo will air three to five Nintendo Directs before and around E3, starting on May 30
  • 3D Mario will be “huge, bigger than any Mario game to date” and looks “unlike anything you’ve ever seen”
  • Retro’s new game will be first person, futuristic, and something everyone wants them to do
  • When asked if “a certain Super Saiyan” would join Smash Bros (since Namco is involved), he said it “hasn’t been decided yet, but there is a chance”

Would you like to see Goku in SSB4?

[EDITED]
I'm not asking if you think it is true. I'm only asking if you WOULD LIKE to see him in SBB4.
Yes, I know its 90% impossible. I only want to know if you would like to brawl as Goku.
4th Party characters (anime-included) threads are allowed only if they have videogames appereances.

Goku could very well fit in a Smash game you know that guys. The chances of Goku have at least, increased because Namco Bandai. But I wonder, Goku could possibly be a one shot if that rumor is true.

Which Goku? The video game character from the game YuYuki or the animu character that hasn't got a chance in hell. :troll:

Namco Bandai does NOT own the IP. Your argument is null.

I get a migraine whenever people use the "Namco Bandai owns DBZ and Naruto" argument because of how dumb it is.

I read on ign that Amethyst princess of gemworld is also rumored to be in the game from a very reliable source. Nintendo approached DC comics, and told them they didn't have enough females or princesses. :troll:

Would I like him? I... guess
Is it realistic? Definitely not.

I'll just stick to Super Smash Flash 2 & Super Smash Bros. Crusade if I want a playable Goku.

4th Party characters (anime-included) are allowwed only if they have videogames appearances.
-_-

Sakurai has two rules for guest characters
1) Must originated from a video game
2) Must have been on a Nintendo system at least once.

Goku failed the first rule (both have to true and there is no "or".)

Sakurai's criteria for non-Nintendo characters:
  • Must originate from a video game. (That means, no 4th party characters at all.)
  • Must have appeared in a Nintendo console.

Namco Bandai can do anything with any anime they use for games, right?
And based on that rumor, I think Goku has consideration, for being the world's most awesome hero to date. And the fact that there's potential move sets for him, might be brought up to Sakurai.

They can't. They have to ask for the IP owners for permission anyway. Things don't work as simple as you're thinking.

Still there's a Wreck-It Ralph topic somewhere here.
Considering that Ralph originates from an Arcade game, he's eligible, no matter who the IP owner is. (In this case, Disney, who also owns another known videogame character: Sora from Kingdom Hearts.)

I pray that whoever the person is who shows the trailer at E3 will wear a Goku outfit.

Just to troll the entire world.

As for his chances, he's arguably the person with the LEAST chance of getting in. 9-VOLT has a higher chance than him.

there are actually people who believe goku has a legitimate chance in smash bros?

Sakurai stated during brawl's development people that if the character did not originate as a video game character, THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE IN SMASH BROS..

-.- seriously...

EDIT: who is this "user known for bringing accurate facts" from ign?

I happen to be part of IGN's community, and i know the ones who post plausible accurate info, and the ones who pull BS out their ass but make it look convincing enough to fool gullible people.

I hope Sakurai has a more coherent and logical way of thinking than most of you guys here, really.
Lucario appeared first in a movie! He's not eligible!
Not that is a problem since Ralph IS NOT going to be in Sm4sh no matter what.

Well, that's the argument used to not lock the thread. I'd say Ralph's status is ambiguous at best.

And I agree with you that Ralph is probably not going to be in Smash.

Ralph orginates from a movie... yeah the arcade game was made as a browser game before the movie and I think for iphones and android later, but still iffy territory. Pretty sure more people would argue he's a movie character first.

Also isn't Sora owned by square enix?

Hence, the ambiguity I mentioned.

Last I knew, no.

The official game came out before the movie. (on the 3DS and Wii) So.....yeah.

It's a paradox. You stand by the rules Sakurai told (which are absolutely logical and true to the idea behind Smash Bros.)? Ok.
Wreck-It Ralph was released first as an arcade game (TO ADVERTISE THE MOVIE) and he's eligible, even though he is FIRST a character from a Disney movie. It's like saying that other Disney characters are actually toys and not movie characters because they appeared first in Happy Meals at McDonalds. And trust me, IT IS THE SAME THING.
But let's go deeper. If you accept that, then let's take Lucario, which is CLEARLY a videogame character which happened to appear first in an anime (with the intent to, guess what, ADVERTISE THE GAMES). Then what? He's not eligible?
You get what I'm saying?

It's ambiguous only if you follow Sakurai's words like they're the Bible and do not get his way of thinking. Really you don't have to be a genius to understand what he actually meant to say.
