Gimping with Cyclone

So I was watching some random Luigi videos on Youtube when I came across this one: Luigi vs. Bowser

The Bowser was consistently getting gimped by Cyclone from underneath. Are there any other characters this type of gimp works well on?

To my experience I can't reliably gimp anyone with the cyclone, but I've caught Mario's UpB with that, as well as with Peach. Usually light characters or just non-heavy ones can get gimped if they are clipped by the edge of the cyclone offstage (as long as they are not floaties). Heavy charactes are usually bad to try to gimp offstage, as they'll end up pressing you down and you can't get back on stage (especially a shoguarding ape).

^^^ That's if you don't clip them I mean.

the aforementioned peach and mario were usually gimped away from the stage, rather than stage spiked however. A stage spike from a cyclone works on just about anyone I guess if you can catch them (unless they are wall teching shoguarding apes).

Ppl who have poor recovery can usually get stage spiked, star ko'd or just sent in a bad angle like Zelda and such. But it's better to use it w/o second jump to ensure you get back on stage. Alot of times, gimpers try to gimp you, but essence, they get gimped back because of the nado. Don't completely rely on gimping nado tho. You have better reliable options too.

Opponents with horrible vertical recovery are easily gimped on stages with slanted ledges since plenty of attacks send up or sideways and then down. Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Link are the only ones I can think of who have to be careful when trying to edge guard off stage.

For Luigi, delayed recoveries (waiting until the last moment to use recoveries) with a Rising Cyclone can easily gimp almost anyone trying to chase them down below the stage trying to get an early KO... especially if they have horrible vert recoveries. DK trying to meteor smash Luigi is an excellent example of this.

Clever shoguarding apes wouldn't try to meteor smash you though, they'd just cargo throw and shoguard, that's the bane of luigi.

Short answer: you can't reliably tornado gimp any character. However, any character caught unawares can get tornado stagespiked (most will be gimped).

Even though it's not reliable, I think that catching someone while 'nadoing is pretty useful for gimping, especially on people with poor recovery or low-priority recovery (dropping b-air anyone?) When I play, people who get caught don't really seem to know where to DI because the aerial nado hits them in random directions.

Situational, but useful when you're in a good situation to pull it off (elheber's examples)

*kind've off-topic* messing with people who are hanging off the ledge with a tether is fun. Cyclone stage-spiking, reverse falcon punch, taunt-spike, etc.
