So, obviously, it's a lot worse than it was in melee. No DCDS, less reach, less damage, less (none) comboing out of downthrow. But I'm loyal to learning the best of every single move sheik has to offer so I want to learn this one. In this thread I want people to share their best experiences with downsmash and help me define what breakdancing is still the best tool for.
So far it seems like it's a decent trap for someone to roll in to if you're expecting a roll in your direction since the hitbox is so long. Most downsmashes serve as a roll-catcher and the breakdance is less strong and far-reaching than that of most characters, but the hitbox lingers more and is more consistent throughout than dsmashes which attack front then back, which can be nice. I have a vague sense I've used it in other situations when I needed it to be dangerous to be right on top of me but wasn't sure exactly when and where they were going to be, and scored good hits with it.
How about you guys?
