Well, I don't know that, but you have spyware.

Yummy yummy yummy, DL Spybot Search and Destroy [list of free programs], and clean it up. If you can't access the website, your hosts file is tampered.

Seriously how many threads do we get in a week complaining about Windows problems? 'Tis ridiculous.

Technically, this is the Computer Cafe.

Only natural computer problems congregate here. And Windows has the highest market share. If Linux or OSX had the highest market share same malware problems. Though IE being uninstallable is inexcusable [I think you can, actually, I've heard you can, but it's a massive pain, or something].

Though in this forum I assume over half use Linux.

I assume he did that Zolga, his problem is that IE pops up with Ads.

I'm saying switch because they DO have a lower market share...although, I will be switching to Linux. Just as soon as I get a new laptop (I'm not gonna switch it on the family computer like one day they wake up and suddenly "Who switched the friggen OS overnite?! What IS this?!" My family isn't as tech savvy as me). The debate is whether I want that to be Mac or PC. Mac is nice for entertainment, and thats what I'm looking for. That's why I'm leaning more toward that side. Better programs.

Edit: toon_marth and superstar- the two n00bs who can change any thread into a Mac vs. PC thread lol. But I started it

NO U

Better programs.
Purely subjective.

Eh, original question has already been answered. Get rid of your spyware. If you can't download Spybot or some other alternative because the "webpage won't load", then:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file

There is a specific file you need to get to. Default location is:
%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\ [SystemRoot is usually C:\WINDOWS]

Find a file called Host whatever, open it with Notepad, and if you scroll down you'll see a list of Antivirus websites, likely with an IP address like 127.0.0.1 next to it or something. Delete those entries [this is if you can't get to any antivirus site].

yea, i was considering this. but isnt linux like another operating system? im not sure if my files or personal preferences still stay :\
Preferences obviously change, since it's not Windows. Files will be lost if you don't back them up, the same way they would be if you fresh installed Windows onto a Windows machine.

Uninstalling IE disables automatic updates, Windows Update, and Microsoft Update. It also ****s with the file browser. As much as you hate it, I don't recommend removing it.
