Get characters fast

In smash 4 the fastest way to get characters is to do VS matches in the shortest time possible. I'm guessing Smash ultimate is similar. That means do a lightning match against a level 1 CPU with a handicap 1 and one stock while you have a handicap of 9. Choose a flat stage and dash attack the CPU again and again.

I hear there is a 10 min cool down in smash ultimate so you need to reset your console after unlocking each character

Games are made to have fun. If someones idea of fun is to have a early tournament with all the characters thats fine they paid for the game. You can play your copy of the game however way you want too

Because "every smash fighter is returning" and because of anticipation and excitement and probably mostly not enough time. Its not like theyre making custom outfits or something locked, its characters so ppl really want them as fast as possible. Personally i thought unlocking characters was a chore

Are you talking about the Battlefront II debacle? That is incredibly irrelevant, especially since EA was using hostile microtransactions and Smash is just trying to keep you playing.

Seriously, this isn't that big of a deal. For tournaments, yeah sure, it is rough to do this but it's not like it's as big a deal as the EA thing. Not even comparable.

m8, it was a joke.

Sure, it's not a 1:1 comparison (thank ****. a smash bros with microtransactions would be disasterous), but taking an artificially long time to unlock things just for the sake of taking longer doesn't make something "more rewarding."

I would say it depends.

If it's for tournaments then it would make sense to get everyone as quickly as possible. I'm wanting my boy Marth first, so I will be looking forward to the old fashioned way

I'm probably the minority, but I'm not really a huge fan of having to unlock 60+ fighters. In the past, unlocking characters was fun to me back when there were actually "secret" characters. When I played Melee and Brawl, I was still a kid who didn't have access to the internet, so every time I unlocked something new it was legitimately a neat surprise since I didn't even know it existed. But in the days of Smash 4 and now Ultimate, they've revealed everything before launch, so nothing's really a surprise. And, since I know who all is available, I just want to be able to play as them ASAP.
