GC controller on Wii U?

Currently, my Wii is glitchy so I installed Project M on my Wii U, but it won't recognize the GC adapter. Is there any fix for this to use a GC controller, or should I just try to fix my Wii?

I was able to get the Gamecube adapter to work with 20XX on the Wii U, not that this helps, but it is possible to get it to work with games other than Smash 4.
