I made a video a while ago when i starting being active on the boards and peeps gave me a criticism of my Luigi game. Well, its been a good few months and I would like some feedback on my Luigi as of now.

I know its not perfect, and some things I already know I need to work on (like getting back on the edge), but i'd appreciate any comments you guys can make on me :3.

Well alias, imo your luigi is top of its game. Just needs a fsmash somewhere and your pretty much fine. Both of you guys were pretty evenly matched and that mario was similar like mine but less aggressive and fewer mistakes lol

I'm really concerned about your excessive use of Air Dodging. Great tilts. I don't know why I didn't see much Jabbing on your part.

Yea I was going to comment on the jabbing too. Always be jabbing (i dont care if thats improper english). Luigi's jab is terrific. You can jab into so many things that the jab becomes a mindgame. Jab to grab, jab to up + b, jab to smash.

Other thing I saw was how long your opponent was living just try to kill earlier if possible. Thats obvious I know :chuckle: but yea.

Good things I saw though was how well you spaced aerials. You were pretty much safe on most of them and was rarely shield grabbed so thats really good. Also using F-air to help your DI was good too see. Nice use of tilts AND nice gimp kill with the Down + B on last kill.

Yeah you and elheber pointed my lack of jabs out, so i'll start adding them in more. The well spaced aerials are a result of countless shieldgrabs by the guys I fight against, so I've been forced to get good with that.

I use my utilt as a jab lol, thats how much I use it. I'm a little sloppy getting the job done and KOing the enemy. Tornado gimps are great xD, just hard to land depending on your angle (most of the time i send him TOWARDS the stage).

Pretty good luigi but that mario is horrid...
How is the Mario horrid? In reality, he beats me more than i beat him, its just cooler when i win because my gimps are more elaborate.

I'll start being more careful with the airdodges, I'm a bit trigger happy :p.

that helps out my luigi too, in some of those situations d-throw nair would work well, at over 100% it puts him high in the air vertically so you can combo with uair or reverse fair.

i actually watched the whole thing this time

i didn't see any real substance.
its just like you both were givin speed pills and just non-stop smashed each other and just hoped that you hit him before he hit you. if he knows everytime when you run toward him you are going to attack him he gets ready for it. think about that! if you fake attack and do empty jumps that will keep him on his toes and will cause him to make a mistake. i also didn't see any good mindgames, he also followed tons of patterns you didn't notice/take advantage of. you also used pretty generic/obvious moves in these situations. one of the most important things i think about when i play is the most obvious move isn't always the right one to do. if a guy is recovering from above everyone thinks the best thing to do is to headbutt him. that everyone includes the guy your playing. he knows your gonna headbutt him so hes gonna do something to counter it (if hes smart) so maybe do something else to catch him off guard and kill him.. dunno you just really relied on hitting him first really

Then i should start posting videos of my other friend, who is a lot better in the mindgames department. We fight like that because its fun, but I see your point. I can read things a lot better when I'm toned down a bit, so I'll post a video against someone else later to show that. Thanks.

We (my friend and I) are aggresive in general when we fight each other, partially because we are egging each other on while fighting xD, I should record our comments during a fight sometime.

When I have the means to go to real tournaments, I'll probably learn to become a lot smarter and play passively (which sadly what brawl is all about if you ask me).

Nah, don't worry. I didn't post this video to be smothered in compliments, i wanted someone to stab at my weaknesses to make me better xP.

What I see, is the most common mistake ever, ever, ever in this game. Something I'm definetly not past either.

You're far too eager to hit your opponent. Your priority appears to be, first and foremost, to land an attack. When the first thing you should be thinking of is avoiding being hit, followed by reading your opponent, then throwing their reads off, THEN hitting them.

I really don't know how to tell you to improve this, because I'm not exactly a master of it either. Your technical control of luigi and his moveset seems proficient at worst.

It's an old smash mantra that we should all be more attentive to, "don't jump into the ****".

Hope that helps.

Thats funny. I just "jumped into the ****" today. I got basically ***** by D3 today by like 2 stocks which pisses me off. Usually I'm in control of myself and the match and patient as well but as you said earlier too eager to hit someone. But yes crash hit a bullseye, you gotta learn how to be patient. Against top skilled players, you have to be 100% careful with no mistakes.

im still pissed im on a off day. i usually **** d3s lol

Yeah, I think I'm past the stage of actually controlling Luigi's moves, and understanding how each of them work, but I geuss i'll start conditioning myself to the not get hit > hitting others mentality.
