This a part of a larger event. First Ill give you the SSBM rules. Then Ill give you the general info post for the whole event that has been posted at other sites. Other game tournaments include DDR Supernova (several different divisions), Beatmania IIDX Happy Sky, Guitar Hero 2 Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike, and Mario Party 6.

SSBM RULES -

Tournament Rules
•Double Elimination AFTER FIRST ROUND ONLY (or RR elim if time allows)
•All matches are best of 3, with finals best of 5.
•4 stock, 5 minute limit
•Ties broken by lives/percentage
•Items OFF
•singles $5/person

•Stages/Characters:
••Stages limited to the 5 neutral stages for random, others open for counterpicks.
••Neutral stages: Final Destination, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Kirby 64, Pokemon Stadium
••Stages banned: Yoshi's Island, MKI, MKII, Venom, Big Blue, Flatzone, Icicle Mountain, Hyrule Temple, Fourside, Brinstar Depths, Termina, and Yoshi's Island 64
••Bill's Stupid Rule: No stage may be used twice in a single match, either by random select or by picking
•Knock-out: Each person knocks out one stage for the entire match (for now, I might modify this rule later). This stage must be selected at the beginning of the match, after initial characters have been chosen.
•Advanced Slob Picks - Loser may choose the next stage or elect to go random, then winner may choose to change characters, then loser may change characters
•Double Blind pick may be called at any time

Other Rules & Special Issues

-- Stupid Ignatius Rule - If you want the game paused, your opponent must pause it.
-- Controller mods of ANY kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc), except for cosmetic changes (paint job, different colored plastic), are banned. If you are caught using a banned controller you will be disqualified from the tournament.
-- Turbo or programmed buttons of any kind are banned. You may use third party controllers or pads that have these features, but if you are suspected of using the banned features you will not be allowed to use that controller any longer.
--Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the match or makes it in any way unfinishable are banned. Using them will result in the immediate forfeit of the match.
-- Tactics such as Peach's Wallbombing and Jiggly's Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to manuever around the stage. Using them (or any similar tactics) to excessively stall a match, such as dropping below levels intentionally and stalling underneath, is banned. Judges will be on the tournament floor can be called in at any time to enforce this rule during a match.
--You are responsible to BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER.

- $6 Girls Perfect Attack Tech
- $6 Battle Mode

Perfect Attack Tech Rules

- All Songs Are Allowed
- No Little
- No Stealth
- No 8x Speed Mod
- No BPM over 500
- Higher Seed Picks the First Song, the Lower Seed picks the Modifications and Difficulties/ Then Vise Versa
- Beginner Cannot Be Chosen as a Difficulty
- If both Players Fail, the Chooser of the Modifications Result in a LOSE
- No picking of the same song per person

This tournament and all of its rules are solid. All mods excluding the ones listed above will be allowed. You can turn off the jumps and you can turn off the freeze arrows as well. Ofcourse the qualifier hasn’t been chosen yet and will not be chosen until come time of the tournament date to prevent practice. Each player will get 1 song per match. As the rules state for those who are confused, the Higher Seed will choose the song first and the Lower Seed will choose modes for each player. Ties will result in a random song on 1x Mod ONLY. The mods that can be chosen during this tournament are:

Difficulties – Basic / Difficult / Heavy
Speed Mods – 1x / 1.5x / 2x / 3x / 5x
Boost – On / Off
Appearance – Hidden / Sudden
Turn – Left / Right / Shuffle / Mirror
Dark – On / Off
Scroll – Normal / Reverse
Arrow – Vivid / Note / Rainbow / Flat
Freeze – On / Off
Jumps – On / Off
(No penalties for Character Choice)

Grading System for Perfect Attack Tech

Perfect = 2 points
Greats = 1 points
Goods = 0 points
Almost = -1 points
Boo = -2 points
O.K. = 1 points
N.G. = 0 points

(Please do not push the Green Button until Scores are written down)

King of the Hill (Endurance)

- Random Seeding
- 8 Footer Or Higher
- Songs of 10 Footer Capability can be picked on Difficult Level if it is an 8 Footer
- Winner Stays on the Pad
- Cannot Choose Same Song More Than Once
- New Seeds Pick Song
- 1x Mod ONLY

Endurance is exactly as it sounds, be the last man on the pad and claim victory. The Seeding will be random and there is no qualifier for this to take place. When the Loser dismounts the pad, the new Seed will choose the song for both to play that has the capability of being an 8 footer or higher. If the song is a 10 Footer on heavy and this is something that isn’t to your liking, you may choose Standard (Difficult) as long as it is an 8 Footer or Higher. The Winner must stay one the exact pad they won on before they stood up to the plate.

Oni Challenge

- Complete Courses or have a Best Time to Proceed or Win (Time)

You will play a total of 3 courses (those who complete the first 2 as well. The Oni Courses have been chosen as far as what will be the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd course to play from. If everyone or a large majority of the players complete the course then there will be a final cut going by Score (not Marvelous). The Score is out of 10 Million for each course. The chosen courses are in 3’s, meaning that the 1st course to be played will be 1 of 3 courses on the list of its level, as well as the last 2. This also prevents practice.

Girls PA Tech

- You must be a Female to Enter
- Same Rules Apply Here from Perfect Attack Tech

This will decide who is the best female in the Midwest. I’ve seen lots of potential in the area from these females all around and its time to show what they are made of. The match’s will also be 2 songs 1 per person. If both players FAIL, the chooser of the mods will result in a LOSE. This will be a Single Elimination Tournament. Represent your area’s, and take home the gold.

Also if you plan to enter both PA Tech and Girls PA Tech, the fee will be a Total $15.

Battle Mode

- 2 Songs, 1 per person
- 1 Person Chooses Song, other ONLY chooses Difficulty

This fun mode contains matches against each other. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Stepmania’s Disney Magic, each player has a Battle Gauge. To increase your Battle Gauge you must maintain a good combo. As your Battle Gauge increases, your rival will be given a random mod to play on which will benifit you, but you are against the same terms as well. Most of the mods in this mode aren’t even in Normal Arcade game play. The machine will determine the winners by the meter above the Battle Gauges. The more you do good with your combo and Perfects, the more the Meter Gauge will go to your opponents side. Who’s ever side the Meter falls onto will be the loser. Good Luck!

Additional Information

At the end of the tournament there will be a lock-in to follow it up. At this lock-in, there will be:

Done.

A IIDX player? Where are you from?

This tourney is def a chance to see some good bemani gamers. A lot of the best USA players will be there.

SSBM will probably have an larger than expected prize because of this. A lot of people that normally wouldn't enter a SSBM tourney will be there (the DDR/IIDX players) and a lot of em will enter.

I hope some dedicated smashers come.

I'll try to go to this since it's so close. So $30 is enough for the lock-in and Smash? Sounds good. ^_^ Now I'll just have to find a way out there.

I would play DDR, but I've only played the songs on Supernova once, and I'm not that great anyway. =/ I could make a fool of myself if there is any free play or whatever you'd call it.

On further consideration (and the fact that I'm jobless), are you sure you need to stay for the lock-in to enter the Smash tournament?

If there is interest, there will be teams. I usually dont do teams so ill probably just ask zig or another player for the usual rules. So if we do teams its "usual rules."

I wouldn't be able to draw out any brackets for you, but I could easily tell you the rules for the events. And usually teams go first, so I mean, I was just wondering. Are the people who are there gonna wanna do teams? I dont even know what kind of crowd this is.

i can make brackets just fine no worries about that.

I ment more like special rules for doubles (team attack on/off that kinda of thing).

Singles will be first, If i want and there is interest teams will follow.

I dunno if i can get the car all day saturday, so that really is the deciding factor on if i go to this or not. Muba, if i get the car then i guess we would go separately to TJ's ...the point of me going to this tourney is just cuz its early enough to hit up before we go 2 Tj's place, and because there's gonna be some ppl there that i can actually beat =P

We're probably the only Wisconsin coming. Who are all the "good" people going to this?? I'm not from Illinois so I don't know. Also what's the smash payout??

And what's the deal with Girls PA? Is it like a novelty tournament or are there actually good girls that are going to be there? You'd better hope so cause otherwise WI is sweeping this **** :)

Smash pay out will be based on turn out.

1st - 60% / 2nd - 30% / 3rd - 10%

There a couple good girls in the the girls PA (one can pass 12s on ITG) but if your friend is good she will do very well.

If you mean good smashers than there is a few good smashers gonna be there. If you mean DDR/IIDX then some of the best in the world will be there. Damien, Godai, Vaderseven (myself), Dark13, JoeT, Modarious, Brazoliange, and many others. I think over 5 people completing in DDR have AAA ten footers.

So WI people are coming down for this?

...

Any in attendance here should consider going to TJ's afterwards; Tink is bringing a bunch of IL/IN people, and it will be fun times. ^^ Please consider it!

Turns out we couldn't make it, we had some car issues and it wouldn't have been worth risking another 600 miles from the IIDX GOLD test location in Naperville. But it looks like it wouldn't have been worth our time; we were hoping no good players would go to a $5 tournament :laugh:

How did the girls PA turn out?

Amber won girls PA with great scores like a AA FC (20 greats) on Max300 and a black flag on Fantasy.
