I did a search so if this was made it's not my fault

Okay I share my wii with my sisters and I know for a fact that with online play they are gonna want to try. But I don't want them messing up my record.
This is kind of ripping off of halo but what if you had a profile you could make for online records and such. I see no downside.

I could see you choosing a Mii for an online profile. Like you said, there's really no downside.

Nintendo's been making a big deal about how the Wii is for the whole family, it'd be very bizzare if they didn't let you make your own profile.

But at hte same time they seem to be afraid of copying off someone. I mean the wholefriend code thing is still active,

Or maybe they might not have records recorded. I hate having people judge me because of distractions in real life, or if something I was DC'd on accident, or I actually played several people that are really good.

I hope it has different profiles. I don't want anyone screwing up my stats.

I will love beyond all else if we had general Wii Gamer Profiles like the 360, but it probably isn't going to happen.

yeah, wii friend codes system sucks balls. they REALLY need to step it up. xbox 360 just has such a great online experience. nintendo should really take some pointers. nintendo should most def adopt the gamer profiles concept. also, they should start implementing matchmade games, instead of restricting you to whoevers has your wii number...peace

Wow. Hiroshi only using one ellipsis? Amazing!
I agree with you. My friend has a 360 and it's online service (plus more and better games) made me decide to get one for Christmas over a PS3. Of course I only want a PS3 for the next Team ICO game and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Your profile is connected to everything you do and you can even access it online to see your playing history and things like that. Nintendo really needs to do this, because some games like Metroid Prime Hunters already allow you to do this.

Yea they should make gamer profiles... like if both my brother and I play we should both have two different profiles, therefore our friends would know who is who

I say to heck with the ranking system as it encourages cheaters. I'd rather us smashers make clans or "online crews" to manage ourselves on a forum such as this. Don't get me wrong I like having my own little profile and I do like the Mii for the picture idea. look at Metroid Prime Hunters with the "Hunter Liscense" people cheat the crap out of that game.

even if there isnt a ranking system in the game, there will be one if you want to get serious, somewhere online, probly MLG if they create a gamebattles type setup for it.

Even though there will be some boosting, there should still be leaderboards and seperate profiles. But of course, Nintendo's always 6 years behind the current video game standards, so I doubt we'll have either.

Honestly, I don't see any problem with a ranking system. I play Halo online, and trust me, I know how people abuse the crap out of it, but remember it IS just a rank, and it is just a game. I don't see any reason to waste real time trying for a fake judgment of skill, but we all know some people don't actually think about what they're doing and just go for cheap kicks. Besides, if someone beats you by cheating, chances are it's because that's the only way they can win. A ranking system might first inspire cheaters to get as high as possible, but once they realize everyone just quits when they join, they won't be able to have much fun playing by themselves, and hopefully revert back to legit ways. Also, I'm almost positive it would be possible to ban Wii #s, so I should hope the everlurking thought in the back of a cheaters mind about getting caught/banned will overcome their desire to cheat their way up to make them look skilled.
Also, sorry for contributing to the whole 'ranking system' off topic instead of the gamer profile idea. But for the sake of having something to do with what this was originally made for, I think it would be an excellent idea. Think about it. A SSBB cheater comes home one day, and his family is mad because they can't play online as before, and they know exactly which profile did it? Perfect. Cheaters = punished online and off, good stuff.

the only way i can think to cheat is people quitting before they lose, which could be solved by giving the other guy a win and the quitter a loss.

also in metroid you have a separate ranking of how much you quit or disconnect out of games, so people will know before they play you. they should do that as well.

you should be able to block people tho, if you play a cheater
That could turn into something really bad( if every player had the right to ban, they could ban not-cheaters in adittion, it shouldn't be a fact, but it is cruel ppl out there), althoug Reporting cheaters is something else.

Didn't mention, but I want games profiles of coarse.

i dont think it really harms much if people can block anyone they want. that way they can just play people they want.

I think another interesting idea is something like halo, if they record your win/loss ratio you get matched up with people of comparable skill. I know its fun to pwn noobs, but i think for people to want to get better they need to not be getting ***** every game. That will bring more good people into the community.

When I refer to a ranking system I mean in a way like 5 star smasher to a 1 star so people can see if they are getting a challenge. Not like leaderboards because surley that would promote cheaters the most.
About the friend codes. I would like it if you could create rooms. I mean in MKDS you and your friend had to search for each other AT THE SAME TIME which was astoundingly f-ed up.

In an intelligent post on the Nintendo forums (they exist, honest!), someone suggested that the friend code system could actually work. You see, the way the code works is as a hash of your console's code and each copy's individual code. So since the console's code IS used in the formula, you could theoretically tie a code to a Mii, and then tie that Mii to a profile that can span all games.
