Definitely, I'm actually getting AT&T now, it should come this week. I've heard it works fine for gaming.

Where I live Comcast is the fastest thing around and AT&T doesn't come close to matching it in speed. However in online gaming it's all about stability and not speed, so DSL probably wins in that regard. Fiber Optic is even better.

i have dsl now and every night my ping goes up and it lags, does anyone know why this could be happening. I call At&t and they claim that everything on the network is fine but when i do tracert to the server it shows high pings and also pingtest.com shows high ping.

Sounds like your ISP isn't giving you many dedicated mbps (i know my internet is 100 mbps normally with 15 dedicated)

This is the way it seems to work around here...if you have a specific type of internet, the people who live close to you ...and have the same internet type...they also share the same "connection" as you do...so they can end up sucking your internet dry so to say.

basically i see it like this.

If you whole block gets 100mbps connection...and your neighbors are using 99mpbs (because none of it is dedicated...or at least very little) your internet will suck

because of this during times of higher internet activity...you'll be forced to endure lag spikes and poor connections.


This is all an assumption made based off a similar problem my friend had

Yes I am on DSL internet. Do u think that is it something that can be fixed or will i just have to switch my isp? I call them and they dont seem to know wat im talking about, they just make me do a speedtest and try to get me to upgrade.

Interesting... is your ping over 315? If you pm me your ip address I can check to see if you were banned by mistake. Otherwise there should be no reason why you wouldn't be able to connect.

Check firewalls and IP blockers. I couldn't connect to Godweapon for the longest time a while back until I finally figured out that it was on Peerblock's blocklist.

Okay here is a question, why is their still a ban on my ip ranges? One of the which is 68.59.x.x.

I fail to see the point in a endless lasting denying of one single person since summer of 2009 when Near first open galaxy64 since then I was only unbanned when loto came back then again with firo for about 2 months all together like 5 months throughout the past year almost a year and a half.

Also the smashworldforums rules still apply to someone who has proven over and over that he wasn't even doing anything to begin with? I'll be waiting for my answer.

Peek - I think the general consensus is against user alerts. I might be wrong, but when they were put on in the past people got annoyed, especially since there is no way to know if they are on before logging in. If a majority of the users want alerts on for some time, I'd certainly do it.

Moogle - Ownasaurus is still around, but he doesn't seem to post here or play smash anymore unfortunately. I've talked to him, although not very recently, and paid him a visit over Thanksgiving break. The best thing about the client is that he posted the source! Which means that anyone can make edits. Are there specific features that you want? Maybe I can take a look at it...

the ability to make a game like *chat (not game) except it's specifically for p2p would be pretty awesome if you could do that

you know you can just edit your rdb file to display something like 'Join for P2P' in place of some obscure rom nobody plays online

it might not be a chat as such (you can still start the game if by some phenomenal coincedence someone else has that game configured such) but it'll serve.

Actually, it would not be too difficult to have a P2P button that has a popup to ask for the ip and automatically connects and sets your status as "playing." I've been thinking about this for a while and I recently got Owna's source to compile, so I could work on it.

Have it remember that I want to ping spoof, rather than having to enter it every time I open PJ64k.

That P2P button stays in a static position, regardless of the window size.

Oops sorry, that button wasn't supposed to even be there (just testing stuff out - p2p in server game window hopefully will be coming soon) - try this link instead. The client is the same as Ownasaurus's but this one just saves the value that you have in the ping spoof box.

As you can see I have nowhere near the prowess of Ownasaurus (I'm just still a freshman, he graduated in computer science a few years ago) however I'm very willing to try and make updates if people are willing to work with me a bit.

Sorry about your ping increase. Everyone plays on LAN now so you shouldn't get any more frames.

the old server has a max users of 1, thats y no one uses it

Sorry about the outage. Something on UGS's end. Everything is fine now.

In the future if I know about the outage (in this case I did not), I can open up the other one temporarily. But people should not stay there. The old server is probably better than the alternative...
