Ah, that was a nice little trip down memory lane. Honestly, the 'Cube was a freaking awesome system, Nintendo just made too many mistakes and it was overshadowed by the PS2 and Xbox (mostly the PS2). It's a shame that many "hardcore" gamers just passed it off as a "kiddie" console. I'd love to see them play Eternal Darkness and then say that with a stright face.

Melee, Paper Mario 2, F-Zero GX, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Pokemon Colosseum, LoZ: The Wind Waker, and MK: Double Dash.

These were by far my favorite games for the Cube when I was little. I have a special place in my heart for all of these for different reasons, but my favorite was Melee by far, with the Wind Waker close behind.

The GameCube was/is a good system but it just couldn’t compete with the PS2 which offered DVD movie support right out of the box and the Xbox which really moved the ball forward with respect to on-line gaming. Ultimately the GameCube was seen as being overpriced for the features it offered but it does have some real masterpieces in its library. Melee, F-Zero GX and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! are three of my favorite games on any console and I still play them regularly even to this day.

It happens pretty quick doesn’t it.

Part of the reason that I’m writing a retrospective on the Mario Kart series is because many younger gamers haven’t even played the earlier MK games that came out before the DS.

Eternal Darkness was a brilliant game alright.
You know, I still own the game and haven't played it yet.

I can't seem to remember to find the time to play that masterpiece.

What I mainly played was Melee(Still playing it), Super Monkey Ball 2, MK: Double Dash, MGS: The Twin Snakes, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Mario Power Tennis, Metroid Prime, Pokemon Coloseeum, and played my friends, copy of both Viewtiful Joes, and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.

The GC was amazing and had good third party games. It's a shame their exclusivity was usurped.

Both the Super Monkey Ball games were ported in 2005 in the form of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe for the PS2 and Xbox(GC version was still better due to the loading times on Xbox and frame rate on PS2), both Viewtiful Joes were ported to the PS2, and RE4 went to the PS2 as well.

What great third party content it had was taken away.

The PS2 still has the best third party content, don't get me wrong.

I still play Atari and Game Boy games with near as much interest as the rest of my games, what does that make me?

And the gamecube was definitely underrated. Shame that they never used the LAN cable as much as they could, or it's potential to be a global internet connection.

Killer 7 is the Citizen Kane of video games. Eternal Darkness is also an example of the wonderment that video games provide, and let's not forget the wonderful remake of Meta Gear Solid. Gamecube is my favorite consol to date, easily. I feel there are far too many timeless classics on it, that not only stand above the fray for their time, but continue to be engaging experiences coming up to 10 years running now. Of these, I pick the following:

Killer 7
Eternal Darkness
Metroid Prime
Wind Waker
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snake (a necessary remake, as the Ps1 graphics don't stand the test of time, and seeing the faces of the character I believe is important to appreciate the story)

there's more, but I'd have to check my collection, but these are off the top of my head.

In the summer of 2006, they did a....

Never mind.

Just look it up on their site for their list.

MGS was the best looking PS1 game in real time gameplay terms(not the pretty FMV stuff that Square does) but early 3D games in general look ugly now. I'm including Majora's mask and SSB64 in that statement.

I'm trying to remember another third party game that came out but wasn't exclusive anymore.

I'm going to be honest here, the Nintendo Gamecube is my very least favorite Nintendo system. Sure it has some gems (Super Smash Bros. Melee anyone?), but let's be honset, most of the main core titles from Nintendo were a step down from the excellent Nintendo 64 (Super Mario Sunshine was my least favorite Mario game), third-party support sucked, and Nintendo was far behind time. Overall, was not really impressed with the system.

Good thing Nintendo revived themself with the Nintendo Wii, now that's a great console.

although i rarely seen a gc console irl, it is hella small and has 4 controller slots which is cool, i've always had 2 player slot consoles (NES, SNES, PSX, PS2), mini discs were kinda cute, but i never liked the graphics on the 3d graphics on the GC.. my only gripe, that is all.
