Smash Rookie
Basically, z-canceling, or tether canceling, is using samus's amazing z-air to cancel lag upon landing. A good way to get the feel for the distance required is to short-hop, then just as you begin to fall tap z. You must hit the ground as the tether is extending, NOT AS IT IS WITHDRAWN. If you hit the ground as it is being pulled back you will actually get more lag. This helps force people keep their distance, or for you to approach. This might not seem like taking out much lag, but it's enough to get in a quick tilt, or even smash if you have really fast fingers. In order for it to hit someone and cancel lag you have to time it just right. the person in this video is doing it, but probably not intentionally.

I'm not forcing you to do this, just putting out info. Anyone have any feedback?
