those are the match ups I'm less experienced in.. I need some advices in order to fix them. I already know well enough how to combo the characters but I have some approaching issues. How do you usually play out those matches? (I'm expecially interested in Top level gameplay)

P.S. if there's something Fox can do in order to stop grab comboes other than avoiding getting grabbed SAY IT.

Stop getting grabbed, you noob.
uh.. yeah.. didn't think about that.

btw, I watched some videos on youtube of a certain PC Chris guy.. the speed of those videos is much higher than normal, I'm assuming they're playing in lightning melee, aren't they?

if you're getting chaingrabbed all you can really do is mix up your DI as much as possible. a very important option is DI'ing just SLIGHTLY behind them so it's hard for them to notice you DI'd at all, but if they don't make the distinction and turn around then you're free. also whenever you do this you should hit shine no matter what, because if they do miss, then you're shine will come out and hit them.

the other thing is at low percents, try as hard as you can to break out of grabs if they are hitting you before each throw. for the first few grabs at least, they shouldn't be able to do a grab-hit on you without you breaking out before the throw.

but other than that, you really do just have to try hard to avoid getting grabbed.

Um. No, PC Chris does not play in lightning mode. He just speeds up his gameplay with advanced techs, just like everyone else.

Also, why would you approach Marth? You can laser camp him and force him to approach.

No, all tournamnet matches are played in lightning melee.. duh..

I hate laser camping, especially with fox. And it is kind of hard to do, cause if you miss one short hop you are generally going to get smashed while full jumping lasers, unless you are on fd and they are playing bowser.

vary a lot, dash dance, wavedash, short hop nair. for peach, I would just wait til she comes to you, because I hate peach vs fox.

Against Peach, it's easy: laser camp until you can waveshine>usmash, uthrow>uair, or just usmash them
Against Marth, it's like the same thing, except easier to laser camp, and he's actually relatively easy to edgeguard, so if you can shine/ hit him off the edge, just get on the edge, and edgeguard.

No one competitive plays in Lightning mode in a competitive setting. He's just playing quickly. L2use fox's speed. With DDing, and FFing, with use of wavedashing now and then, Wavelanding on platforms, and JCing grabs, one can play pretty quickly.

He was kidding. Thank you straight8, that was the correct answer.

I thought it was pretty obvious, but whatever.

I guess the important stuff has been said already, I don't really have anything else to add. >_>

how to win vs marth..

camp...

wait for them to approach with an aerial...

grab...
That's how/why you beat azen in pools right?

If the game were even a fraction as simple as you make it seem it wouldn't be worth playing.

and his help is definitely appreciated.. anyway I often have defensive problems as well.. unless the Marth is a total idiot he usually lands too much pressure on me than how I can handle, having me screwing up as a result ;). Still, the tip already gives me a different view on the match. The next step is most likely.. how can I keep Marth from playing on the ground? Grabs, DD, etc. are the biggest issues atm.

idk, like i said before, i usually bait the marth with lasers/dd'ing, they usually try to approach with an aerial, so just time it right and you should be able to grab. Once you have the grab just up air/pressure when they land.

Camp him endlessly with SHL, SHDL, it doesn't really matter. By this, you force the Marth to approach in one of three ways:

1) Aerial (Fair/Nair most likely): You can dd bait them into doing this, and grab them during the lag time. Just make sure to space it properly, and not get jabbed/utilted/fsmashed/grabbed after the aerial itself.

2) Dash Attack: Somewhat deceptively long range, but not too hard for you to punish with a grab or dair/nair.

3) Grab: Pretty much have to anticipate this, since it'll probably come after shffl'd nairs/fairs. SHFFL'd nairs counter this pretty nicely, but yeah.

If he doesn't do any of this, just ignore him and keep on camping. But if you do want to approach, I find that running waveshine -> jab works quite nicely, and can set up for almost anything as a followup.

Peach is one of my worst matchups as Fox. Pretty much, you'll only lose to Peach if you mess up (ie fail to L-cancel, hold down, use jabs/weak moves incorrectly). But I think you know that you just have to abuse waveshine to uthrow/uair and upsmash. Pretty easy to laser camp Peach as well, if you're smart about it.

If you want to win vs Marth...basically what you want to do is play gay. Lasers and a lot of running until you can get a grab. Uthrow bair or uair, then run away and do it again. A few nairs if you can get them to grab/usmash.

Vs Peach. You have the tool...it is called a laser. You run away. You are Fox. You are fast. Make that ***** work to catch you. That 1-2% will add up quick. Then just get that waveshine -> usmash.

Just curious Aldwyn, why do you wanna go fox on them anyways, I'm sure they can't stop your falco lol
I don't feel that comfortable as Falco anymore, it's a decision I've been thinking on since RoS4 and now I'm actually begin to lose because of it. I'm expecially sick of how easy it can be to gimp him off, Fox has got the same kind of issues but for some reason I don't find myself that much in trouble. Appearently I can do everything better as Fox. However I'm not used to Fox VS Marth/Peach, hence the thread.

If he doesn't do any of this, just ignore him and keep on camping. But if you do want to approach, I find that running waveshine -> jab works quite nicely, and can set up for almost anything as a followup.
too bad Marth can't be waveshined in PAL version, which I unfortunately play (yeah, I know spikeless Marth is a good one for me). I'll keep in mind the whole camping thing, probably I'm just not used to play gay which appearently is what I should do in order to win.

A good player will just get in your face and put pressure on you to act first rather than just jumping at you like a fool.
