Firefox Hypothesis

So it occured to me the other day that Fox's firefox has more knockback the earlier you hit with it? Is this true or was I just not noticing the variable knockback to the move (things like it getting weaker the more you use it.) I was confused why Marth was sometimes able to crouch cancel this at 14% and then other times he'd fall over. Might have been because of continuous usage affecting the strength of the firefox, but I have no way to test this. Does anybody know anything about the firefox having different knockbacks (but not different damage, although maybe...) depending on when you actually hit with the move, like at what point during the firefox.

Might be kind of an interesting discovery.

Two things:

1) Moves like sex kicks that have extended durations of hit boxes, tend to get weaker as the window for their hit box closes.

2) Why are you attacking with firefox? You should only ever hit with it if you miss a sweet spot, and I don't know why you would really want to do that.

I'm pretty sure knock back is the same all around unless opponents touch you before you've launched.

Like KneeOfJustice said, why are you attacking with Fire Fox? There is a better variation of attacks to use other than the Fire Fox.

So, as interesting as it may be that the firefox has variable knockback depending on when you hit with it, people are more worried as to why I'm "using the firefox as an attack". omg seriously who cares, stay on topic

only on smashboards...

and the knee of justice, what makes you think it works like a sex kick? Is that just a guess or what?...

yeah firefox is really not that great. if you make a mistake and hit with it, i guess its not as bad as doing the same with other upB's, but i wouldnt do it on purpose...

LOL, still, nobody has answered my question. Wow. I don't mean to be mean or anything, but have any of you considered a reading comprehension course or something?

I tested it, it's just normal crouch cancelling effect. I don't know how you got marth to fall over if he was CC-ing, because I tried it at 14% as you said, and I hit him with firefox from different distances (the near fully extended and right when it started up) and did this several times (resetting each time to 14%) and Marth did not fall over -.-

Also while doing this it reminded me that with repeated use of a move the damage output gets weaker... forgot about that >.>

Thanks for testing it abit_fusty. It might not have been 14%, but it was some low percent I noticed Marth would fall over sometimes, then others he wouldn't and I didn't think it was because the move had been used to much. It had felt like the distance played a bigger roll, but then again that was my question.

So then we are at a concensus that distance has nothing to do with it?

How does this not help? Apparently none of you have come across foxes who CC the weak firefox and shine you out of it.
