Findings on Side-Smash - 7 Kill %s

Hi Mewtwo boards. As promised, today I would lab with all the Smashes with the goal of seeing how Side-Smash, which is considered one of Mewtwo's more underutilized moves compares with the other Smashes.

I ran my tests on Final Destination in Training Mode, so Rage is not factored into these kill percents, and found kill percentages for all smashes when they were uncharged and when they were fully charged. I also tested kill percents with the respective smash-subjects used at the very edge of Final Destination and at the very center. Non-Tipper Side Smashes were used at point-blank, while Tipper Side Smashes would be used as far from the subject as possible.

Test subjects included :4mario:,:4kirby:,:4rob:,:4sheik:,:4bowser:,:4dk: and :4falcon:.

First off, I hope that many of you will find these percentages helpful, so that my 4.5 hours don't go to waste, haha.

Anyways, I think that Side Smash can be a very useful tool in Mewtwo's arsenal. I feel that, like my main, Bowser, his Side Smash will be very read-based, but the payoff could be extraordinary with good spacing. Getting any good Disable reads, as LoF | Blue did in his Grand Finals match with Vex, could mean earlier or more secured kills with Side-Smash, unless U-Smash is much more warranted. Being able to kill heavyweights like Bowser or Donkey Kong before 100% can be a very noticeable advantage for Mewtwo, and make him appear more threatening in the meta game.

Even if Side Smash goes nowhere in terms of viability, I hope that I've put a semi-decent contribution towards Mewtwo's development. If anybody out there doubts Mewtwo's killing power, I hope they get a good look at this because these Kill %s show that Mewtwo is more of a glass cannon than anybody gives him credit for.

Well, off to find true combo percentages for Bowser. Tell me what you guys n' gals think!

I...i really thought you were talking about Mewtwo being able to kill a certain character at only 7% thinking 'Wha... that can't be!'. Wow i'm naive.

This is pretty interesting! I always felt sweetspot F-smash were stronger than Dsmash in all scenarios but from your results it seems like they KO at almost the same percentages from centerstage. Was also nice to see that F-smash KO's earlier from the edge, i suspected it was that way but it's good to have it confirmed through testing.

Dsmash is usually better when not DI'ed, as it's survival rate is extended by 21%. Fsmashes survival rate is only extended by 6/7.

Also, my Percents for fsmash
Shiek
No DI at the edge: 74/68 sweetspot and 80/75 with DI.
Dsmash is 76/97 at the ledge, and not much better elsewhere.

Nice tho! Yeah his fsmash is pretty powerful. Wish it had as little endlag as dsmash tho.

I like fsmash more than down smash, and the main reason why is it has more utility and reach. Sure down smash has less end lag than forward, but with side smash you can face away from the opponent and turn the c stick/whatever smash attack button you use towards them and it will turn mewtwo around and hit them at an instant.

Down smash does look cool though. I'm thinking of an alternate situation where mewtwo's current down smash is his forward smash, and mewtwo's new down smash crouching and outstretching on both sides like Lucario's down smash. Would have been bad ass.
