Ok by my title, it sounds like some mythical fairy tale. But no, this is all to real. Ok say your on an airplane, and your coming in for landing on the final descent. Your all pumped, ready to get out and go, having fun or seeing family. You feel that final bump as the wheels hit the floor, and everyone claps. Why? Everyone is filled with joy and content for a safe trip. But.... what happened to that?

For the past few years, I have not seen this happened. I grew fond of it, so I'm having a serious wtf smh moment. Now upon landing, its deep silence bar the sounds of the plane, and until the flight attendant speaks. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm talking about? Or am I just bugging out and it's only been to my misfortune.

I'd like to reminisce about one of those moments. It was my first trip to Florida, and my first time on a plane. Ofcourse, I was little, and a little nervous. I get in the plane, and it was amazing, all those people, and the thought of not being in a car. Soon, I'm in the air, and the trip flies by due to my sheer fun with this new transportation. As we begin to land, everyone cheers and claps! This only benefits my experience, that I will soon come to miss...

My first time on a plane was in my late teens, so I don't have the nostalgia of flying. That being said, I always thought the clapping was slightly silly. It's just people doing their job. I take a bus every day, but I don't clap when I get there. Why clap for this? I mean, I can kind of see why some people would do it, but in my limited flying experience, it just never made sense to me. Not trying to bash your view; if I'd been flying since I was young, and grew up to people doing this, I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same way. But I don't have that perspective. I won't hold it against you though. :D

Well that's understanding it, and im being a little over dramatic as I don't crave it, but it was pretty fun as I love to do anything positive, and serenading a safe landing just floats in that boat.

Holy crap, I actually remember stuff like this happening before.

and I never really thought about it, and now that I have, you're right. I didn't see any of this the last time I flew.

In today's society clapping every time you land because the plane landed safely is like clapping every time you get to work because you didn't crash, or clapping every time you get to the mailbox because no one killed you on the way there.

I understand that, but once you get accustomed to something you liked, you prefer it to stick around. Besides, even though there more chance that you'll get into car crash, operating a plane is much harder.
