I finally have set up some matches for you guys to check out. I've never really done this before so...advice/opinions/whatever would be nice.

Old Vid:

(1) RaynEX (Green Fox) vs. Unknown522 (White Fox)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5YeZ4Pz22I

--------------------------------------

My losers Semis matches against the 2nd best falco in the Canadian EC, BreadX/The Great BreadX. He's also in my crew, NNR.

RaynEX (Fox) vs. TGBX (Falco) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W5XzkUKMqc

RaynEX (Fox) vs. TGBX (Falco) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T28BnCq3aE

This is what I need you all to help me with. I recently went to one of the largest tournies Canada has ever had, The TransCanada tournament, and placed 9th. I had to face the humBAM, the best Falco in Canada...and I got owned. :D I'm no n00b oranything, but I don't have any idea what to do on Yoshi's vs. reallyyy good people. I did rather well on Kanto though. Critique and help fellow smashers!

(2) RaynEX (Fox) vs. Bam (Falco) - Pokemon Stadium http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZuMKvoZdmo

All-in-all, I wanted to see what you all thought of my playstyle, and using that; provide SOMETHING to help me better handle Falcos in general.

Thx doods.

Wow.

I could've sworn seeing a couple other critique vids with 2 or more pages. Is there a reason everyone keeps skipping over this thread?

Advice would really be helpful. Theres an upcoming tourny I want to attend.

Ok well I watched the PS match up with that Falco. I won't lie, but that Falco could have been a bit more ruthless to yah with his shine combos, but I digress. First thing I noticed was that you lack a good grab game. The first thing you have to do is improve on your grabbing. When you grab Falco at 0%, throw him up, then start chain grabbing him as much as yah can, following his DI. Then at around 45% -higher use your Up throw to up smash. Oh and if yah grab him near the edge of the stage, you have 2 choices. Either throw him off the stage and shine him/smash attack him out, OR you can throw Falco up and jump into him with a shine, knocking him off the stage quite a bit. XD.

Next is your general speed. You were not moving all that quick. Oh and due to Falco's lasers, you should focus more on full jump aerials then the short hop ones. ;)

Good luck, will type more later after I finish studying.

You're Fox is good. After seeing that post and how good you were, it didn't seem fair for you to go without advice.

--What I noticed is that when you uthrow them and they DI away from the platform, you catch them, and uthrow again. After the second one, they Di onto the platform. instead of catching them again, you should usmash, because you get better punish-capabilities after it. Also, in the first match, after an uthrow on Falco at 110% or so, you did an aerial, If they DI and don't land on a platform (He wasn't going to), Usmash, if they don't DI, get a solid uair. So basically, more usmash. This is all coming from the first vid.
--On Corneria, you should go for the fin's ledge and use that to get invincibility and bair shine a lot, kinda like the Falco did. Corneria should be banned. :p
--On the 2nd Match vs bam I saw you go for that shinespike from the ledge. You should just put a bair out there, and if he happens to be at that low of percent, fastfall it onto the stage so that it auto-cancels, or ends before you land, and turn around and jab, because he's most likely going to >B immediately. Then shine him. If he up-Bs, then you won't have very much lag if the jab misses and you can just shine him there. Falco is my best match up, I've experienced this time and time again. You should jab instead of shining the >B because he was at low % and most likely DId into the bair, so If he >Bd, it would pass you near the center, where the shine is harder to hit it with. Jab is easy. try that.
---What you should try more of is just uthrow, usmash, follow the tech, repeat. etc...I'm sure you know this, but you should still do it.
--If you are good at smash DIing Falco's dair to get out of shine combos, you should counter FD. Chain throw, at 60% or so when they don't Di to try to escape, utilt, then aerial, etc...repeat. Play smart. Jump and double jump around, not really near Falco though, until you see and opening. Don't get near after your double jump, wouldn't want to get hit off w/o it. Don't use both jumps each time, change it up. Just use that to mindgame in hits. If they don't attack, continue doing that, maybe laser as you fall every now and again, possibly go in quickly with a nair.
I kinda just went on with what I was thinking, let me know If somethings confusing.

Also, don't mean to be rude, but that guy who posted above me, don't listen to him. No offense, Miggz, but his Fox was plenty fast, and there wasn't much wrong with his grab game other than anything I stated judging form the 4 matches I watched.

Miggz: My restriction of speed/grab combos in those battles wasn't due to my lack of skill or inability to do them. Facing one of the hardest Falcos I've ever had the pleasure of facing... mindgamed me alone, even before we sat down. So if you noticed I was attempting to play out of my shield almost the entire time. My caution in those matches hindered my natural playstyle, and getting such a confined level in the first match against such a beast didn't help much either.

(Sorry for the double post. It wouldn't do it when I put em' both together.)

SW: That turn-around jab technique was really helpful. None of what you said was confusing at all. &I agree on the whole jumping thing. I need to implement empty full hops and random DJs into my movement. Watching the bam vids now, I can see myself being pressured. It seems like I have no room to breathe or jump around at all. The lasers mess up my flow each and every time I get hit.
I'll also take that platform D.I. usmash method into account as well. Thanks alot.

Oh hey, no offense taken bro. I should have watched more matches before giving advice. You know allot more about Fox then I, so I respect what you told me. Oh and uhh, nice talking with yah! Whenever you have time, although I feel Ikinda don't deserve it, would yah mind giving me a few tips on my Fox on the "Bermudian Smashers" thread? You don't have to, I like the advice you gave and you don't seem like the snappy kind of pro players. Oh and my real name is Miguel. Laters. XD

@ RaynEX I'm sorry for the bad advice. I should have watched more of your vids before giving out advice, so I truely apologize for that. Silent Wolf gave yah some awesome advice, some of which helped me too! All the best in your Fox career, look forward to more your vids!

Tyty.

I'd like to remind you all that this thread isn't entirely about my vs. Falco match-up. My FOX ITSELF is definetly itching for some much needed scrutiny.

Critique&advise away fox-users.

Are you insane? Its Falco; theres always something he has that Fox needs to find a way to get past.

Dumm pidgeon. =(

For all you reading this...don't let SW's ridiculously amazing post eclipse any ideas you may have. I'm honestly willing to hear anything. From my playstyle to tips against the birdy.

Ok... All these people give some awesome advice, So I guess my two cents won't hurt.

Umm... I noticed you tried to take Falco in the middle of the stage and with the skill difference I would have gone for a more defensive role. Cause whenever you messed up you got waveshined... and where was the chainthrow??? The one thing about these matches is the fact that both of them can **** their recoveries...

When I play a good Falco and get knocked off... basically I don't plan on coming back most of the time... but to better my chances I recover from below the stage so I can get a chance to tech. Bam was obviously playing by what he saw so recovering above stage didn't seem to workout as much... Of course this only works if you have a good off-stage games as well as good teching...

I like your Fox. It's very trixy. You seem to have a pretty good grasp on the Falco match. I thought you were going to win that first one.

In the first video you missed that ledge tech and lost your third life pretty early. Teching Falco's dair is relatively easy...it's one of the few edgeguards I can tech successfully most of the time. Maybe that was a fluke but otherwise you should work on that.

When Falco is pillaring your shield you should try light shield => JC usmash or shine from shield if you're near the edge. I get a lot of random gimp kills from stuff like that.

Thx for the tips. I've got a tourny coming up so i'll be sure to try all i've practiced when playing. I now know that JC usmash from shield breaks pillaring...at least, if done after Falco's shine. It beats all his aerials in pure frame speed, right?

Does anyone know if the SH shine from shield is faster than JC usmash? Or does the jumping animation slow it down alot. I don't want to have to JC shine from shield while on the ground -_- + I want an alternative way to break the pillaring pressure.

Shine from shield takes 4 frames. I don't know how many frames usmash is but it's more than that.

Nair and bair are his fastest aerials at 8 frames (from the shield).

Usmash is 6 frames.

So i guess now i know that its 4, I'll use it in conjuction with usmash pillar-breaks to **** falcos.

TY Shai.
