It's here! It's finally here!

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is an installment in the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series. It is the first Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game that allows players to play together online and it allows players who own a Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS to play together at the same time using the Pollux Engine, an Engine created by Square Enix.

Tribes

Players create their own playable character, choosing their characters tribe and gender. Appearances can be changed through different Headgear and Body Armor equipped. Hair color is also customizable. While each tribe can use any weapon, they have skills that can only be used with their tribes specific weapons.

Clavats - The Clavat tribe specific weapons are swords, and for the first time Axes.

Clavats are the closest of the Crystal Chronicles tribes to resemble humans, although all tribes are considered human in the Crystal Chronicle world. Since most of them are farmers, they are seen wearing farmer type clothing. Their hair colors range from blond, brown, and black. They can interbreed with both Lilties and Selkies.

Selkies - The Selkie tribe specific weapons are Bows like they used in Ring of Fates, and Rackets that they used as weapons in the original Crystal Chronicles.

Selkies have some of the same characteristics of the Clavat Tribe. They usually wear little clothing with some animal fur. Female Selkies have a larger bust than most females, and male Selkies sometimes wear kilts. Their hair ranges from bright colors to plain white. They are the quickest of all the races, but also the weakest in combat. They are able to interbreed with Clavats.

Lilties - The Lilty tribe specific weapons are spears which they used in the original Crystal Chronicles, and Hammers which they used in Ring of Fates.

Lilties are usually short and appear child like even as they grow older. Despite their diminutive size, the Lilty are the strongest of the four tribes. They have plant like features on their heads. Male and female Lilties sprouts on their head differ with males having them short and sticking up while female Lilties have them long and coming down. In some cases the sprout on female Lilties head are also green and contain a rosebud. Most of the time they are seen dressed in heavy armor gear. They can be pretty hot-headed but are also confident and down-to-earth. They can interbreed with Clavats.

Yukes - The Yuke tribe specific weapons are Staves like they used in Ring of Fates, and Books for the first time.

Yukes are tall, slender creatures with a suit that never seem to reveal their face. It is suggested in Crystal Chronicles that the Yukes do not actually have bodies, only souls, and choose their current form to augment their magic, although this is disproven in Ring of Fates when Yuri tells an NPC that he's seen Alhanalem's face. In Ring of Fates another NPC mentions how Yukes have a long lifespan. They have a higher knowledge than most of the Tribes. While the way a Yuke dresses help determine their gender, it can also be determined by the tiny wings on their backs. Male Yukes wings are in the style of bat wings while female Yukes' wings are in the style of bird wings.
In Ring of Fates, it is implied by Alhanalem and Meeth that removing a Yuke's mask and/or armor is considered a severe punishment if the Yuke doesn’t have a strong relationship with the person removing the armor.

Multiplayer
In multiplayer mode players are given three type of matching options to choose from. World matching, domestic matching, and friend matching. Friends matching requires players exchange friend codes with their friends to play. The game features some form of chatting with pre-set phrases for players to choose from and send to other players. With the Pollux Engine, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS owners will be able to play with each other.

I know, right? Everyone says that it's terrible, but I can't put it down.

Same here, I'm trying to get the DSi too, and I'm tight on money.

But if you guys ever want to form a guild, I'm game. :)

Well, I'm getting it when the sun comes up, so maybe I'll post a FC deal, although the official one works, too. :p

Now, can you change hair color at the beginning of the game? I want a brown Selkie...named ZELDA!

I think the games release was overshadowed by Pokemon Platinum. But this is probably the next game that I'm going to buy if I can get the money.

*Clavats FTW

Clavats? *blows raspberries*

I loved the Selkies in FFCC, because it seemed as if she was holding a magic staff, and when they cast spells, the staff went outward and they put their left hand on their chest, looked down, and closed their eyes.

IN OTHER WORDS, it was comparable to Zelda casting Din's Fire.

Normally, Final Fantasy games are turn based, in which you take turns dealing attacks with spells, weapons, etc.

But in this series, you move freely. It's complicated to explain, but this video should do the trick:

This is the GameCube version, but the gameplay is basically identical.

So it's basically a rpg game where you move freely when you attack i saw that in some other youtube vids i was browsing.

Is this just a updated version from the gamecube on?

No, there are several new features.

Such as having a MP bar instead of having to have magicite on you at all times.
It has Wi-Fi, so you can play with anyone, anywhere, on Wii or DS, regardless of your system.

Exactly, Skrah.

And don't get it for the Wii. Get it for DS. Trust me. You won't regret getting the same game but in portable form.

the only difference between them is one's on wii and one's on DS.

Either way, bring whichever one you get to the next tourney, I'll hopefully have it by then :D

Chalice.

I'm not going to copy paste my rant about how the chalice ruined what wouldve been the greatest game of all time... but yea, I rage everytime I think about that chalice. With the chalice removed, this game has massive potential, I will definitely get a DS just for this.

Ya, that thing was god awful. I mean, I understand why it was supposed to be used, and it made things harder, which in some cases would be good, but I'd rather leave it out.

Make sure to get the Nintendo DSi!

I had FFCC and it was fun but it would have been better if I had someone to play it with, the GBA to GC thing completely ruined multiplayer, by the time I got the cables DS and PSP were out and most of my friends were done with GBA.

Being a fan of the first game (I didn't mind the Chalice, despite it being a hassle), I may just have to get this. Any personal ratings from 1 to 10 guys?

I was going to be play it with my good buddy, but then he took a closer look and said that not only is the interface ****ed up to make it look like the DS interface turned on its side, but the graphics on Wii are basically ported from DS...so they're pointy, pixellated and stretched to hell.

We are, however, playing the gamecube game, and even with only two players it's extremely fun, and I can recommend the series. ^_^

EDIT: And I've never minded the chalice, it just became a natural thing.

Does anyone have a list of the level up abilities one gains for all tribes?
It doesn't quite work like that; you don't level up. Throughout the course of a level you pick up "artefacts," most of which provide temporary stat boosts. At the end of the level, in an order determined by how well you did in accordance to a hidden condition you see on your GBA screen, players take turns choosing one artefact to hold forever and therefore receive a permanent stat increase. A character can only ever hold one of the same artefact, meaning you can only grind one level a handful of times before you're not getting anything out of it anymore.

But anyway, there are a couple of artefacts not related to stats: Some grant additional ability slots, which allow for quicker access to your stuff of course, and some are rings, which allow you to cast their spell whenever you want (if you equip them to an ability slot); normally you have to find a piece of magicite to cast a spell, although you can cast it without consuming any kind of MP or anything.

Your tribe is actually irrelevant in relation to all of this; you have a few character-specific traits, mainly the speed at which your focus attacks charge and stuff like that, and your base stats when you initially create the character...and other stuff like what kind of weapons you can equip or have crafted for you. Other than that they're functionally identical, basically.

At least that's how it is in the original game...if I didn't skim carefully enough and it works differently in this game then I apologize for prattling on like a pretentious *******. ^_^; But then you can surely find something on GameFAQs within a few days.

I'd have to say I'd give it a 7, I mean, it is a must buy for the DS, but I wish they could make it more like the original. I understand what they have to work with, but it had a different feel. I'd loved how you could switch through attack, magic, and defense with L/R, I mean, if they did that, then you could set certain spells to each button, instead of switching out.

Well, I have a lvl 41 Selkie, so I'll list her skills.

What I don't understand is the difference between the "Magic Stack" skill and the "Ring Lock" skill. Does anyone know?

And I hope to God, they make one exactly like the original for Wii, no Crystal Bearers crap.

Thanks for the rating, man. I've been craving some good ol' DS RPGing lately, so I'll definitely pick this up.

I'm debating buying this. I heard the Wii version can't play with other Wii's only DS. Is that true?
No, it CAN play other Wii's and DS's, a first for Nintendo Games.
