First let me ask, is your local game retailer having a midnight launch party? If so, how long do you plan to sit you *** on the cold ground waiting. I personally plan to..

Go into town(like an hour away to get to gamestop)
See a movie
Eat at Chili's
Wait my *** in line, and try not to faint from happiness.
Jump in the car and tell my bro to DRIVE
Bring a small light so I can read EVERY single word in the instruction manual
Look through the guide (if I get one)
Then I'll sit, SUPER quiet, imagining what it will be like
when I get home I'm going to JUMP out of the car and RUN into my house
Put SSBB into my Wii(ill have made sure to eject what was in it before I left)
I'll already have my GC controllers plugged in
I'll already have turned on my big-*** tv b4 i left because it takes about 30 seconds to warm up
I'll turn the game on and already have my wiimote pointed at the brawl icon for efficiency
Then, oh sweet god, then...I'll wait for the intro video
Then I'll go do all the extra shizz(i.e. movies, other options, wee what the game has to offer)
Then I will try out EVERY character starting with the new ones in a predetermined order
Then Veterans
Then I'll find out how to unlock everybody and set about doing that as quickly as possible
Then I'll play some more matches with the new characters, thus determining my fave
(my mistake in melee is I didn't choose a fave until like, 6 months after I got it, put me way behind in training)
Then, it's on to the SSE.
After that I'll wing it, but I will be playing it a lot.I repeat A LOT.

WOO I am soooooo pumped for this game, been waiting 7 years but it's almost here : )

Be waiting at GameStop when they open
Buy game
Rush home, possibly breaking a traffic law or two
Open game, put in Wii, download a possible system update
Watch opening movie
Play a Vs match with every starting character on all default settings, starting with Mario
Modify GC controls, play Classic mode with Mario

I don't know after that

I'm going to a job of a cowboy concert (grindecore band) the day before brawl gets released. So I'm gonna go to that, have a long ride home, sleep then when I wake up (weather it be 3AM or 1PM) I'll head to gamestop and get my game :D.

My Plan:

Get $100 Costco gift card as part of Christmas bonus - check
Order online standard shipping so it will take a few days longer - check
Get the game with infinite replay value for free - that's like inifiti x 2 !!!! (joke)

I'll probably play it for an hour or so, then I'll make lots of my own levels, then I'll try to play my bro online using a level I made myself.

1. Wait outside for Gamestop to open
2. Talk to friends and random people who are also waiting
3. Get my copy of Brawl
4. Get ice cream
5. Go home and play....

Considering the 10th falls on a Sunday, and games tend to be released on Monday or Tuesday, either the 10th is meant as a ship date and will not actually be available for the next day or two, or Nintendo made special arrangments, which I highly doubt.

Street date. For a huge game like this, the store will receive the shipments a few days earlier, however, they are not allowed to sell them until the launch day.

My Gamestop is in a mall and is also having a midnight launch so I can wait inside in the warm :).

I will probably drive by an hour before and see if there is a line. If there is I will wait from then.

I'm going to have the TV on and the Wii menu ready so that I don't even have to turn on the Wii when I pop in the disc :p

No sleep for 48 hours. I can't freaking wait.

I'm doing all my homework Friday and Saturday (I get a lot). On Sunday I'll get up normally, rush up to Gamestop, and play for around 14 hours.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl came out on Sunday, and I picked up my game that day. I'm sure Brawl will be released on Sunday too.

Anyhoo, back to Brawl. I'll get up whenever that day and go pick up my reserved copy from GameStop, since even if there was a midnight release, my mother would never let me go.

I can't believe the release date is a Sunday.

That's awesome... Because on Mondays I have classes until 7 pm (stupid scheduling issues, oh well I AM a freshman! -_-)

Yup, so I'll do all of my music theory homework (it's typically done on Friday nights anyways) and then on Sunday I'll wake up and beg my parents to take me to Gamestop (because yes, I don't drive.) and then I'll play Brawl all day.

Well that is... if I can ever find a Wii. o_O

Eh my store does not do a midnight release, I believe its because its a gamestop in a mall, rather than in a strip mall.

I may just preorder online and get the free over night shipping from gamestop. Does anyone know since release is on a sunday, that I would get the game on that Saturday, or that monday?

thanks!

I haven't even reserved Brawl yet, so I should do that soon...I'm expecting more or less to get it in the middle of the day and then play it for 48 hours straight...heck, why not 72?

My plan for the 10th? Go to school. Games don't get here until like 5 days later which is good because if I got Brawl during the week I wouldn't get anything done.

i go to church on sundays, so after that ill drive straight up to gamestop (around 12-ish) and pick up the game. ill admire the box art for a few minutes before i leave the store. ill unwrap it in the car and check out the disc art. since i dont fully read and soak in the instruction manuals before i play games anymore ill probably just skim through it and look at all the pics at a red light or sumthin (usually fully read after i play the game, like the next morning before i start playing again). then ill get home turn on my wii click the smash icon on the wii menu and watch the whole opening video. after that i dont really know. im prob gonna b wit a friend so we'll do versus or sumthin wit all the startrs then do some SSE. then lastly, try some team and single online that night. its weird, i had stoped myself from getting too excited (so the wait would go by a little faster), but after i read this thread i couldnt help it!!!

That day...Feb. 9 i'm probably going to be so antsy that I can't say in one spot, maybe just sleep or play as much melee before the midnight release as I can, go with my friends up to Gamecrazy, get the midnight release, and no idea from that point on. My mom will probably be extremely mad but heh, it'll be worth it.

It's doubtful you'll have difficulty finding it on launch day unless the street date is broken. Even Halo 3 was all over the place on Launch day and it wasn't hard to find. This is of course, for retail places like Target and such.

A Gamestop, on the other hand, may get sold out pretty quickly, which is why if I have no ride to any nearby spot I'm going to preorder it sometime when I return for campus as a backup plan.

Do you think that they are going to turn you down if you haven't reserved it? If you are at the store the moment it opens, rush to the game and buy it, they won't refuse to sell it to you if you haven't pre-ordered :p

I'm still looking but sadly I don't think there is a store in my town with midnight release but if there is I'll drag along a few friends buy the game asap and rush home and play it on my Wii until midnight the next day, then I'll realized I haven't done my homework and do it all. Though if I was the least bit responsible I might do it on Friday/Saturday.

I'll be sitting around waiting for the Europeian release ;). I'll already know what I want from the Japanese release I guess.

Well, I don't know if my local Gamestop is having a midnight release or not. But, if they are, it'll be my first one and I'll definitely try to go. My parents probably wouldn't like to take me there though late at night and I'd hate to go there at 10 PM and wait 2 hours. I may just go there the next day to get it.

So, is Gamestop having a midnight release? If so, I'll gladly try to go. If I can't then I'll go after lunch to get the game and play it (doing my homework on Friday or Saturday). God, I can't believe the game releases in a month! :O

I reserved Brawl in July. Since the game is coming out in Japan 2 weeks and 3 days before America gets, I'm going to get all the information I can get from it before America gets it (especially the characters)

dumb question- feb 10th is a sunday. in the US, that means there is no shipping that day. so is the game going to be released on the 10th but be shipped on the 11th and arrive on the 12th?

I have a plan to an extent, though it's not purely to my liking. All my smash-buddies live in my hometown (everyone at college ****ing sucks) and I'll have to put up with mediocrity at my college because I have school Monday. Due to this, I'm going to get Brawl on my drive back to college from home at Gamestop on release day. I have it pre-ordered, and I do have one (or two) competent friends nearby. I'm not sure whether I'll look at the instruction manual or not, but I suspect when I put the game in I'll watch the intro video. Immediately after that I'll directly to versus mode and obliterate my friends with some new character. After I'm temporarily done playing versus I'll move to two player SSE, and probably play two player home run contest. I'll be going home the following weekend to have an epic smash off.

I've got a plan, but for the Japanese release date.

I'm going to wake up around 9AM, and then meet up with my friend around 9:30AM and get some McDonald's breakfast. At 10AM (the earliest any store selling the game nearby will open), we'll both go and each get a copy of the game. Then we'll come back to my dorm and sit down and marathon Adventure Mode and whatever else to unlock as much as possible before settling down with a bunch of Versus matches.

I certainly hope the Gamestop near my campus has a midnight release... if they do then I'll be going to that to pick up my reserved copy, run back to my dorm across town and proceed to not get anything productive done for the next week because I'll be playing Smash nonstop. Easy.
