Hey guys I wanna pick up Falcon
I've been practicing for a while and I can L-Cancel all of his aerials (besides D-AIR)
I know the rest of the techs (such as DI, Crouch Cancel, etc)
I just need to work on SHFFLing
I've looked up guides and other things of that sort, but I still just don't get how to do it
What is the order of button inputs
how do you guys shffl?
And how do you guys practice so that you actually get better

Exactly, do it to marth, hes easy as hell to combo, and if you want, I started off with the A button, and went to training mode, now if you combo correctly and shuffle, on the consecutive hits the numbers will keep going up. If you **** up, you didn't shuffle correctly. Or you can just go to melee mode and fight a level 1 or 2 marth, NOT A LEVEL 9 THEY WILL MAKE YOU WORSE.

No training mode sucks unless you never use the C-stick <_<
It's alright for doing Nair chains on Bowser though

After and while you learn this
Fight against lvl 9's to practice spacing. Try killing him without getting hit.
Its all about spacing

I'm pretty sure that doesn't really help you at all ... level 9's have ******** habits but are also stupidly good at irrelevant things

so if I wanna dash then do a shffl knee how should I move my joystick?
Should I be going from > and angle it down or go from > to the center then press down on the joystick

Start practicing comboes on Marth? That's useful but....trust me and do M2 lol...God I hate playing Falcon's with M2. Just grab Mewtwo once Linkoninja and you win. You can do anything to him.

Don't play lvl 9's play like lvl 5's or 1's.

If you want to check your Nair speed see if you can Nair Bowser across FD in training mode

Also for fastfalls I'm pretty sure it registers if you roll it down to 45 degrees
...You should really just find out for yourself, it's pretty easy to see if you got a good shuffled aerial or not

Don't worry about techs too much. The only crucial ones for CF are shffl, and DDing. Shffl is jump, aerial, down. Down comes after the peak of a jump. If you are really having trouble you can download a youtube video of say darkrain and play it in slow motion with vlc.

Focus on the mental game, because then when you learn techs it will make much more sense why they are useful and how to use them well. You can do okay with CF if you space well and spam uair. Just make sure you know why you won or lost a match.

Easiest way to tech chase - If you think they will roll grab them - you can get either roll on reaction. If you think they will tech in place, or not tech knee them.

Knowing how to gentleman is pretty crucial at even the mediocre tourney Falcon level <_<

Also learning how to deal with hitlag when you hit shields and such is really important and very hard to train by yourself.

I see so I'ma start practice my SHFFL's

any ideas on how to practice Gentlemans?
As far as "mental" aspects of the game
since I play by myself what can I do about that?

You got up to a computer in training mode and you hit gentleman him a bunch

If you don't have your tech skill down you can't really even begin to partake in the mental game because they can just run you over with sheer speed <_<

I mean, some characters require less tech skill than others, but Falcon is one of the most technically demanding characters to play at a competitive level. Competitive as in, not get ***** by an average tourney goer's secondaries in friendly matches haha

^This. Try to get your basic techskill down before you work on mindgames. Also, if you're in LA don't be intimidated and reach out to players in your area. Go to some fests and local tournies, even if you just play friendlies, and get to know other players. You'll be amazed at how much faster you will improve by playing better players. You have some of the best in the world right in your back yard, take advantage of that.

It's different when you have to differentiate hitting a shield, a body, or nothing on the fly

Hitlag will mess up your L-cancel / fastfall timing if you're not prepared for it, so I think it's a pretty important part of learning Falcon once you start playing against humans

If you are using the game's buffer system you only need to make minimal adjustments to a real shield. When you l-cancel doesn't change, the difference is in when you start the aerial. You only need different l-cancel timing if you hit more than 1 thing.

These are some ways to improve your L-canceling/combos that I've heard from others....

To learn to L-cancel aerials while hitting an opponent:
Play with a lvl 1 bowser with a handicap of lvl 9 and just keep trying to hit bowser with SHFFLs. Once you master SHFFLing, mix them up like instead of Nair->Nair->Dair-> Knee try Nair->Nair->Uair->Knee or whatever you please.

To learn to L-cancel aerials while hitting a shield:
Play with a lvl 1 bowser with ONLY THE STARMAN item on and set to high. Hitting an opponent with invincibility is the same as hitting a shield, so you just gotta keep hitting the invincible bowser with whatever aerial to see how much more lag you have before you need to L-cancel. Keep practicing your SHFFL combos as well.

Hope this helps.
