This has to be the trickiest system I've ever seen, and I need a bit of help with it, and I'm sure others will too.

So, my main concern is, let's say I live by myself for a year. I obtain independent status. However, you have to file for FAFSA every year. What happens if I move into campus and don't have any income and live merely off of scholarships/FAFSA money? Am I a dependent student for the following year?

I don't think so. I believe dependent is defined when you are being funded by family or friends. You're still independent...just no job.

Still though, not too sure on this.

no, you are independent no matter what's your income( even if none).

for a example : Homeless with no work are independent, they have no income, but still they are.
