I hope 13's battle system is improved over 12's. I couldn't stand it and it really ruined the game for me.

On the contrary, I loved XII's battle system immensely. That, and its expansive world have placed that game in my highest rankings. I didn't like the playable characters though. Balthier and Fran were the only ones with any flavoring. The others were all very bland.

FF8 had six characters, but made it work. FFXII failed with their characters (especially when the world was filled not only with humans, but with Bangaa, Seeq, Moogles, Vierra, Garif, and Nu Mou. Why did we get none of those other species as PC's?

That is another reason I disliked that game. I had just finished playing FFIX, and that game had plenty of races to play and they were all unique (a walking rat lady and a giant THING called Quina?! WTF was he/she anyway?), but this game just had the bunny chick. Ugh...lametastic.

They're saying that XIII will be like VII in terms of storyline and characters. I really hope this is the case, because it's been a while since we had a good Square story that was both epic and addicting.

PS. I miss world maps!

I thought the battle system is what saved that game from being totally bad. It was the story that was sorry lol

that's almost like saying grandia 2's battle system was bad O_o..

They're saying that XIII will be like VII in terms of storyline and characters. I really hope this is the case, because it's been a while since we had a good Square story that was both epic and addicting.

Ugh, no. VII is overrated.
And if they want the characters to be like VII, it better be VII and not AC VII.

On topic: I'm hoping this game [XIII] turns out well. I'm looking forward to it more than Versus.
What I like about Versus is the relationship between the characters. They're all friends and they know each other really well, similar to FF VIII. It involves more interaction between the characters which makes it interesting.
