Emerald's IVs are generated by the number frames that has passed from when you reset (A+B+START+SELECT) when you see a wild Pokemon or receive a Pokemon from an NPC (like Beldum in Mossdeep or your starter Pokemon). Pressing A on frame perfect moments would require Melee tech skill. It would also require legal hacks in order to count frames.

Or you could just use a stopwatch or learn the timing. XD You don't need to use "legal hacks". The only hard ones are with frames that are appear long after you reset the game.

Niiro, what this basically means is that you can get the same ivs (and nature in some cases) on a pokemon just by reseting the game and obtaining it after a certain point.

Yes it can, although it will be different for every person. In emerald a pokemons shinyness is just as predictable as everything else. There's a site where you can input your ID/SID and find the frames at which a shiny pokemon will appear for you.

So basically, to do this thingy, you get a timer ready, SR, wait infront of the legendary until the right time, and then click a when the time is right?

Exactly. The timing varies from pokemon to pokemon though. For Lugia his Ivs are not determined until after the ground shakes, for Kyogre the ivs are not determined until after you run to him, etc, etc. So you need to look at the ivs you get and compare them to the chart to find where you are.

But how would it work for pokes such as Latias and Latios? This stuff is all very confusing >.<

This is just for Emerald, right? Is it similar for Ruby/Sapphire? Because if it is, then I wasted hours resetting for a Shiny Beldum by clicking on him at almost the exact same point in time every time (I never got him shiny, I gave up). And that would really depress me.

Just for emerald xD
Okay, so it's not even similar for R/S? I know the whole thread is about Emerald, but I was about to be really upset for a second there.

Hey Chill? I have just one more question. How are the IVs listed on the list?
EDIT: also, how do you find out your secret ID?

You need pokesav to find it though it might be possible with AR. I dunno if the AR codes exist because I don't use many of those.

You can find the ivs and natures in the page you linked to. If you mean order they are speed last.
