I just realized i can't jab cancel. I never knew about it till yesterday and then i figured i'd try it out for the first time today and i find i'm rather bad at it.

basically from the 5min i tried i realized that i had problems with both methods

hitting down between jabs to reset your first jab goes much slower than the speed i could get using the other method.

while the other method, i have a real hard time setting up..i'm confused as to how to get it to work

so basically crouching after an initial jab resets and then you can jab again by releasing crouch and hitting a as you get back up.

The problem is repeatedly hitting down seems to lose frames..and seems to have different timing on all my characters..though it seems more useful for sheik and fox than marth.

anyways i'd prefer to use the other method since it it easy to time. Basically you move the stick into the notch for diagonal down and you can just repeatedly hit A..because you're holding left you don't actually go into the crouch i think and so you can just repeatedly tap A..but i can't understand how to set it up..

when i get it to work i still can't tell why it worked one time and not another

So assume i hit a and then move my stick immediiately down and left...shouldn't i either crouch or turn around? if i crouch i will dtilt and if i turn around then the whole thing messes up. I'm unsure when i'm supposed to move to this diagonal position and when to time the next A jab.

Yea, Its a good thing to do...

I really don't think Marth can do it. And it's not that good with him IMO.

I can do it easily with any chracter that has a "normal jab", but with Marth it's wierd.

That's why I think he can't do it. I have tried and it doesn't really work for me. But Marth doesn't need it. he is beastly enough with his cross-ups and pressure with shuffled fair and abusing the IASA frames on his d-tilt. And with proper spacing his d-tilt cancelling is just as effective as jab cancelling. Maybe even more so since he can immediately do w/e he wants after the d-tilt.

lol, that's what i thought too emblem lord..but i'm also having trouble with fox..i don't know why i wasn't getting it using the diagonal method and when that method did succeed i couldn't see any difference from when i failed so i can't improve:\

the other method i swear is really slow..unless you memorize timings for every char jab to know when you need to hit down and when to release...but maybe i'm wrong?

can you just hit down at any point? but then you'd still have to hold it till the first jab took place right? garr i wish i understood what causes it to work

Just the hold the analog directional pad diagnally away and down from your character. Just hold the stick in that little notch in the controller that corresponds with the direction. Then just tap A.

You'll get a feel for it eventually.

oh wait..do you hold it before the first jab then?

i assumed you moved there between the first and second jab..making it hard to move there in time...if i am facing forward and move to that position and then hit A will i tilt or turn around?

I hold it during the animation of the first jab. As your character is doing the jab animation move the analog inot that direction and hold it.
