i changed the title used to b Quick Draw Reverse Edge Cancel?
so i was fooling around in training mode doing reverse counters
after dopping from the edge
to do this u have to press diagonally down in the opposite direction u r facing
but i didnt angle it enough and i did a quick draw away from the stage
instead of turning around in midair and doing a counter
now it gets weird
even though i am quick drawing the other way
(away from the edge)
ike grabs onto edge
wat the heck?
so basically im guessing tats a reverse quick draw edge cancel
call it watever u want
(btw this actually works it might seem impossible at first but after many attempts
i did it a couple of times consectively)
so basically im asking u guys if u ever had a similar experience
and i was also wondering if this could attack an opponent and still be canceled by the ledge
b/c tat would b one sick edge guard
also this is a faster way to replenish invincibilty frames b/c
u grab onto the edge really quickly
so is this sweet or wat?

I haven't done this personally, but I'd assume that once you're attacked by your opponent, the counter animation would start and override the ledge grab. But you should still test it.

the counter has nothing to do w/ the canceling
me scrwing up the reverse counter is wat caused the quick draw
and the quick draw was the move tat was canceld by the edge
so im asking whether or not this could b used to cancel a quick draw
so tat it will attack the opponent and ike will still grab onto the edge
srry if i wasnt clear

i just tested this
it does in fact work
however u have to do it correctly
if u dont u will attack w/ quick draw and fall to ur doom
if it is executed correctly u attack but will also quickly grab onto the edge
once u get the quick draw edge canceling timing down it is
fairly simple to execute

First of all--it doesn't matter which way you're facing, you'll grab the edge.

And second of all, I don't see how this is a good technique at all. Hurray, you can rush to a ledge? Being on the ledge isn't a great thing against good players, it sets you up for punishment.

Unless I missed something..

He's saying,
Hang on the edge
Press down (not side)
Jump straight up
Side B away from the stage
You will grab onto the edge after doing Side B, which apparently still hits
^I should have made some sort of message with the caps

Don't know how effective this is as I haven't tried it on people, but it looks cool :p

well first of all this is to b used when u r hogging the edge against a recovering opponent
and is basically another way to punish an opponent while they r recovering
and like DarkCond0 said it does look pretty sweet
although i would say there r better options out there for ike
this is just another interesting tech u can use which
will probably make the opponent go
"What the hell just happened?"

btw u dont have to b on the edge to do this
i found also tat as long as u r in the right place when
releasing the quick draw the edge will cancel it
i found it is a little bit under the edge in FD
dont know about other stages
mindgames anyone?:)

Also this brings up another question i had tat is
would this work for other characters moves?
i mean basically this shows that moves that r not even aimed for the edge
r cancelled by the edge
so mayb the spacies' illusions or some others might apply
but im just guessing after all it just might b an ike thing

Wooot this is a good find! Congrats on finding this out. LOLOL I think it will be a good edgeguard because it's the quickest thing you can do off the ledge...

Look at my list of aerials you can ledgehop and make it safely back to the ledge...
Fair -
Bair
Dair
Uair

All of those require an Aether directly afterwards...which might really screw you up if you miss...but this reverse QD edeguard puts you back on the ledge right after it's done..theoretically speaking (can't test it now..I'm definitely at school :( )

One thing I'll check for is whether the chance of me screwing up is too high..which shouldn't happen since my finger dexterity is pretty dam amazing. But if it does lend itself to error a bit too much it would be really fail... could you imagine in tourny and Ike goes for a fancy edgeguard and SD's ...losing the match?! Disgusting!

One thing I know though is..it probably won't kill the person..since QD tends to send opponents upwards in a slight diagonal trajectory(which is the prime place to DI)...with that said, who cares! It sets them up for an upair or Fair which should definitely kill them! LOL too good.
