try going to training mode and slower the gameplay, then pivot til you're used to the point you're in normal speed

just practice perfect pivots. they're not hard. flick the control stick (and i mean FLICK IT) in the direction you wanna pp in and then return it to neutral position (let go)

Play on the Wii Classic Controller. It's worlds easier than the GCN controller if you have big hands and long thumbs
