But the shield button is not a constant stream of inputs, it's just a press/release sorta thing. So if you're looking for the most effective way to get out of grabs...

Constantly press both shields buttons as well as whatever else you mash to get out of grabs =)

Spam thread, sorry, how could I make this relevant...

Uhm, well, Omniswell said that in the Air, if spaced right, marth's Uair will outspace it.

What about a fast falled Shine? Would that go through any Uair? I'd imagine it would for most... Idk.

Also: If you have tap jump on, and if the opponent is shielding, and you're behind is towards the opponent, you can jump with the control stick, Ctick left or right, throw out a Bair and hit the opponent's shield, and then you can double jump before you hit the ground, so it's a nice little mix up for people who shield, or whatever other application you can find.

FF shine solves everything. So basically you're saying holding the shield button is faster for getting out of grabs than tapping it repeatedly?

I think rotating the analog stick while rapidly tapping up on the c-stick is the most effective. Maybe we should do both.

I think for every button press during a grab, you reduce the time you are held by a frame or two, and every directional input (rotating the control stick) reduces it by three or four.

I have no idea, though. I'd rather not rotate the control stick, though, because I lose the ability to DI.

Likewise, but you do what you gotta do to get out of a grab (as long as it doesn't mean a regrab right afterwards). From 0% I think you break out after 3 full rotations of the control stick. And I know everyone says the instant grab break doesn't exist, but that's definitely a lie, I got grabbed at mid 50s once and all I did was tap my shield button once (not exactly sure of the time) but I got released around the time that it would take for the DDD to do one jab attack. Anything like this happen to someone else?

Characters usually break out of my grabs instantly when I grab them with a purple Pikmin as Olimar from long distances. I've never really had it happen otherwise. I've done it a few times, though.
