down, y, down, down, y was a cheat in donkey kong country. I think it gave the player like 50 lives instead of 5, but I'm not sure. I know that B, A, down, B, up, down, down, Y let you switch between donkey and diddy in 2 player team even if you weren't the main character.

Close, BDawg. Down Y down down Y was to practice the bonus stages. 50 lives had to do something with going to the "erase game" option first, and it used L and R. I dunno, I don't normally die in DKC anymore anyway.

that's right, B, A, R, R, A, L was 50 lives. man i loved that game :)
