umm...pretty sure a 2 month delay isn't worth like...new items or something inevitably dumb like that. They're obviously not adding anything major due to the relatively short extension of the delay, so yeah, it's pretty dumb.

Don't be stupid, they wouldn't delay it for an item. Yeah, it's only a two month delay, but two months is way longer than you'd think. It's more than enough time to fine tune online, tweak mechanics, add characters. Maybe they just got the rights to another third-party (though I doubt it), and they didn't want to ship the game without including it.

Yeah, it sucks, but the game will be better for having been delayed. Come February 11th, you'll agree with me.

Sakurai needs a knee to the balls. Seriously. I'll GIVE HIM THE GOROH KNEE IN FACT!

2 months is plenty of time in development time, specially when all the core stuff has been done.

making a character completely from scratch shouldn't take more than a week (assuming you have 2-3 animators, 1 good texture maker, 1 coder, and a complete audio studio [something SORA has])

balancing the character is a whole lot of different and can take ages...

So dont get mad, get glad!

Actually, what Sakurai wants is to PERFECT the game. Which means more changes, more characters and the rumor of "Voice Chat". Also they can use this time to fix their lag problem with Wi-Fi since Sakurai stated that if you play against someone far away, more lag is bound to occur. Yes, i am upset about the delay, but face it, have either a PWNING game or a d*** in your mouth, its your choice.

There are LOTS of reasons for Japan getting the game earliest. Maybe the factories that produce the games are located in Japan, and instead of making the Japanese wait a whole month longer for what they have right in their own backyard, they're getting the game first. As you (kinda) said, more copies will be bought in America than in Japan due to America's larger population. It's going to take a while for the company to ship over millions of units from overseas to meet the demand. Why should they have to wait for us? Also, where was this "OMG, EQUALITY!" attitude when North America was getting the game before Europe? *this is all random speculation, by the way*

I highly doubt that 2 extra months is enough time to add more characters. Maybe fine tune online. But anyway, it's not so much that it was pushed back but rather that it was stated definitively that the game was going to be released december. It's not fun having your hopes up and then ripped away. Also, for us college students, we could've been anticipating playing w/our hometown friends IN PERSON this christmas break, not online. As long as I can remember I have gotten 10+ video games for Christmas, but this is seriously the first time I could only think of one thing I desperately needed. And now it's taken away. Maybe I'll get Strikers or something...I'm disappointed, but if they need more time, there's really nothing we can do. I would REALLY appreciate a demo downloadable from the Wii Shop Channel and a confirmation of Falco returning, but a demo is more important right now.

I'm going to have to go with WTF SAKURAI, THAT WAS SUCH A **** MOVE. If someone did something to this caliber at a party, everyone would stop talking, and that person would be kicked out of the festivities.

Someone also said "Yay, more updates." Well guess what? We just learned about 3 months worth of updates in two days, thanks to all the gameplay videos. so **** THE UPDATES. Not to mention we now have to sit through all the updates for the stuff we learned today, just like we had to sit through Link, Mario, and Samus's Final Smashes. I don't even want to THINK about how much time the updates take to organize and set up. For all we know Sakurai might not be wasting any time on the updates, could've hired a few people and said, "hey, this on monday, this on tuesday, etc etc" and left the rest to them. BUT for all we know, he spends his first 2 hours every morning organizing the freakin updates.

Also, getting it over here is much more important in the business sense, because there is actual competition here in the US. Microsoft just blew everyone away in sales for this quarter because of Halo 3, and Xbox is non-existent in Japan. Not to mention the importance of the christmas season, which isn't nearly as big in Japan.

And BTW: Stickers and Trophies are USELESS. NO ONE CARES. Especially now that we have to get the same object TWICE, once in trophy mode, the other in sticker mode. Maybe if Sakurai didn't **** around with this useless junk, it would be here sooner.

They should at least release a temporary version for people, or mail out demo discs. I'd even pay $50 for a decent demo of SSBB if it came out around December. I don't care if it has a few bugs/no online yet, I'm just anxious to play it...

But releasing it next year isn't completely stupid for business as everyone seems to think. Since it'll be released Feb. 10, SSBB's sales will be much higher for the year 2008, the year it came out. This Christmas tons of kids will probably get Wiis, and then in Feb they and all the people who already have Wiis can get SSBB. ALSO in the 2008 holiday season, more kids will get wiis and SSBBs.

It still does kinda stink though...I really want to play it

Well, we are all nintendo purchasers so delays shouldn't be a surprise. 2 months is a long time to perfect and polish. It was probably Nintendo that gave pressure to Sakurai to try to hand it in before end of year, they were afraid they would lose momentum in sales of the wii, clearly not the case as they are still always out of stock and would be come holiday season. Also, top of the line games tend to take longer to take, not your six months fling. TP princess and a number of AAA games took as long or longer. It's not just nintendo. Starcraft 2 started development in 2003 and it will probably be released late next year after 4 years of development. One thing I think the delay will improve is the reduction of the tier. Dozens of developers splitting their time fixing probs and playing the game to find out who the inherent weak characters and tweaking to improve it would be benificial in the long run.

I've made more annoying then that.

And I guess that's why, though I like Kojima's MGS4 strategy more. Everyone gets the game at the same time. No complaints. And I was upset when I heard the Dec 3rd announcement, because Europe was getting screwed over. Well, at least no one will be COMPLETELY screwed over. But still...Kojima is smarter then Sakurai.

Kojima > Miyamoto > Sakurai > My Trash Bag > Reggie.

And I've always had that "OMG equality" attitude. I've always said everyone should get it at the same time. If you read my posts then, I stated that, and I felt bad for our Europeans and Australians, and I ranted on and on about it. Simply put, Kojima is a much better fan pleaser then Sakurai, BY FAR. I said Sakurai failed then, and I say Sakurai failed now, too with the release date info. Kojima pwns Sakurai all day and night. Definitely. At least he treats all his fans equal.

And again, IDC about the delay too much. I care more about the whole equality thing, as always.
