Who is the most dominating athlete in a sport? All time + Current.

Who is the most dominating athlete EVER in their respective sport?

I'm talking pro-sports so dominating your grade 5 gym class doesn't count.

Basketballl -

Soccer -

Hockey -

Baseball -

Football -

(Any other, such as cycling/swimming/running/boxing)

Some candidates...

-Michael Jordan
-Muhammed Ali
-Wayne Gretzky
-Mario Lemieux
-Michael Phelps
-Mark Spitz
-Jerry Rice
-Maradonna
-Pele
-Babe Ruth
-Hank Aaron
-Bart Starr
-Joe Montana
-Lance Armstrong

I'd say the most dominating athlete in their respective sport has to be Michael Phelps.

I was going to suggest that it was a close match between Jesus, Hercules, and Captain Falcon.

Anyway, Michael Jordan is the most well known Basketball player, and Babe Ruth is the most famous Baseball player.

In terms of football, at the moment has to be Cristiano Ronaldo, who although off form at the moment, is winning awards left right and center for his performance last season. Thing is, it's hard to dominate a sport like football when you've got people like Messi, Kaka, Robinho, Torres, Deco all performing magic week in week out.

Of all time you have to be looking at Pele or Maradona.

Don't bother on a mainly US forum, most of us hate soccer. I think it's OK though.
